Bud rot on marijuana treatable?

A question from a fellow grower:

I have been searching for any info. on getting rid of bud rot. My question is: 1 out of 4 of my plants have bud rot. I’ve already removed the infected areas, but my question is… Do I trim out all the rot right when I cut them off the tree? Or do I let it dry first and then cut the rot out? It is brown rot in the buds.

We have a pretty good article about this, it is very thorough, a long read but worth it. You might want to skim towards the end for treatments. You definitely want to trim off all the infected parts and then probably do the application of the baking soda solution.

As is found in the article:
– "Potassium Bicarbonate (KHCO3) inhibits the growth of molds and fungi. It is an organic treatment widely used on crops and edible plants because it is a naturally occurring compound in humans, animals and plants as a built-in defense mechanism.

Remove diseased leaves and buds to avoid infecting other plants. Clean pruners with rubbing alcohol or peroxide immediately after use.

Make a mixture of one teaspoon baking soda per quart of warm water. Spray on plants every seven to ten days." –

Sodium Bicarbonate NaHCO3 is baking soda and as you can see is similar to potassium bicarbonate. As you probably know from any baking recipe it is mostly non toxic to humans, just be sure to gently rinse your plants thoroughly every few days before harvest, with plenty of time to fully dry between rinses so mold doesn’t return, to clean most of it off so your smoke won’t be too harsh, if you use a vaporizer you might not notice it much at all

Also you can submerge your buds in a hydrogen peroxide solution mixed with water, while the buds are still fresh, not dried, right after harvest to get any mold off as seen in this you tube video featuring Jorge Cervantez of High Times magazine:
