Brownies - Canna Butter or Canna Oil?

Hello
When making brownies, the recipe calls for oil. Is there a preference as to using canna butter vs canna oil?

Also, recipe calls for 1/3 cup of oil per batch. Doesn’t sound like a lot to give a good buzz in a small brownie?

Pretty new to edibles.

We decarb 1/2 ounce weed in a cup of coconut oil and it makes pretty strong edibles.
The amount of oil is not the determining factor but how much cannabis you add to the oil.

Just my opinion here,
I have made butter and oil (coconut) both.
Butter makes me gag. Somthing about the butter mixed with weed smell. In brownies I am sure it would be fine, but if used where you can taste and smell it more I am put off by the aroma.

We used to make cannabutter in the crockpot but once I got the Source Turbo I’ve never looked back. Like you I’m on the lookout for that ‘weedy’ taste which is kinda funky. Now our cookies taste just like any other good Tollhouse recipe.

I don’t think it makes any difference to your brownies.

Thanks
I have a Levo 2 that is supposed to arrive Wednesday. Anxious to try some canna oil and make a batch of brownies and canna capsules.

I have done it in the crockpot and stovetop before. The Levo and others sounds like it’s much easier and less mess.

Now I just need my latest grow to mature to harvest/dry and cure.

I prefer using coconut oil for brownies, and I try to stick with the Pillsbury brand brownie mixes. Thiers calls for 2/3 of a cup of oil as opposed to 1/2 cup for Betty Crocker and the other big brands I’ve looked at. I figure the extra oil is a good thing.
I have used butter in the past, and they came out fine, but not as good as with oil.
Another note, if you use coconut oil, make sure your eggs are room temperature before mixing. If the eggs are cold, the coconut oil starts to really thicken up making it very difficult to keep mixing, lol.

I like infused olive or coconut oil for my baking versus butter. Do a lot of it. Also infused coconut makes great gummies.

I use the instapot to make oil and butter for brownies and cookies.

I put an ounce into two cups. That way I can share with the kids.

Finished a batch of coconut oil yesterday. Made a pan of brownies and waiting for them to cool. This is my first try at infused oil. I hope I got this right.

Ok I had a minor setback. Heard a loud noise in the kitchen and discovered the dog knocked my brownie pan off the counter. He ate approximately one brownie. He will enjoy the rest of the day I’m sure.

I’ve been making brownies for quite awhile.I infuse coconut oil with bud or sugar leaves from trim.
I use Ghirardelli brownie mix(dark chocolate)is my favorite.Add oil as directed on package.I add an extra egg(gives it a more cake like consistency).then instead of water I use leftover coffee or I make espresso and add it.The coffee or espresso just makes the chocolate taste so much better.
Give it a try I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.just my experience.

Thanks, I’ll try that this week. I also add an extra egg to the mix. I use the same brownie mix.

I make the same mix all the time and have been trying to improve it some. I add my wax to butter in a double boiler then into the liquid mix. They recommend 43 mins or so, been stopping at 38 minutes, so edges aren’t too crisp. I just do less oil , less water and one egg with my infused butter. May try the extra egg :+1: and coffee

Hello, Great Topic

Brownies infused with cannabis can be made using either canna butter or canna oil. Both methods are effective, but canna oil is easier to make and vegan-friendly. The choice depends on your dietary preferences and the desired texture, as butter yields richer, denser brownies, while oil produces lighter, moister ones.

That is my prefered oil. Crosses well to gummies/cookies cakes etc. More stable than butter. Can eat it with a spoon and if done correct has a nutty coconut taste plain. Lecithin added at infusion is a must. Helps oils and water to bond and mix. Prevents separation. Helps digest it. Have a blast and remember how strong it can get so dose accordingly. I have licked fingers and the bowl a few times only to drop out in 2 hours for 12 or more. Flattened.

Made a batch of brownies last night. Girlfriend had one before bed and she didnt feel very much before falling asleep. We ate a meal before she ate the brownie.
I decided to try a brownie this morning with coffee. These brownies are kick ass.
I started feeling it 15-20 minutes in. I’ll try a quarter of a brownie next time.
