Blk widow grow log

This one’s stem is way to long, the middle one had seed fall off now looks sickly and still wait for third to rise it’s starting to poke threw.

She looks stretched (low lighting) and to be dampening off (too wet). Wring those pods out a bit n toss em back under.

Edit : sorry. May not be too wet. But how is you lighting? U dont want long leaning seedlings

Low light I have it 24 inches over seedlings 600w led should I lower it right on them and cover the lil ones and keep tall one uncovered

Ringing out pods will I damage roots

Nah 600 is plenty strong. Not sure lowering it wont fry them. If u have a toothpick or small stick try to stand her up straight. I dont think humidity is a bad thing as a seedling so the dome is fine. Do you have any low power 8-15w cfls? You can run those very close n seedlings love them

Dont squeeze them too hard. Index and middle finger with thumb. Press a bit, if water comes out easy they too wet. You want them damp. Then i always rewet them from the bottom

No this light is it. Will heating pad help seedlings, I gotta get a bigger dome this one is tinny.
So less water more light sooner. (It stretched cause I was gone for 2 days and still was dark in room.) I will stand her up.

That maybe it. Just needed the light. Your 600w is definitely strong enough for them. I just mentiond cfls because they are weaker and can be run closer. And yes. Dont allow the pods to dry out. But dont soak them. There is a thin line. You’ll find it with practice

I stood her up, squeezed the peet but no water came out but the are damp to touch. It’s only been a about 7 or 8 days I’m the most impatient person, they are in this stage for what 3 weeks?

Give or take. Usually 10-14 days if you have a good start. 3 weeks if not. As long as she isbt an auto your fine. And have recovery time

I’m getting really discouraged this is second seedlings I’m having issues with and 65$ for seeds isnt something I want to get 1 of 4 out of. My equipment isnt the problem its gotta be my technique. Like u said practice is what makes you better.

You’re getting excellent advice. If you do have a heat mat then I would use it, but only if you can control the temperature, otherwise you can fry them. Set it to 77° F, and they should be fine.

Keep the dome on them, they need it for humidity. And try to support that tall guy with a small stick so she doesn’t fall over. In a few days you can plant it in soil and bury that long stem.

Ya ok I’d do it today but garden store is closed today and they have everything, bigger domes and heat mats that have thermostat on them.
And I had that question can I bury stem when I transplant

Yes, you absolutely can bury that stem when you plant her. That stem will grow roots and she’ll be perfect.

She has u straight man. That stem buried will turn into a root and she’ll be just fine.

I’m just frustrated with starting seeds and the get going, I got one out of three to grow. So next week I can transplant that one into cup. My other 2 seeds out of 5 are now in peet so I can have 3 to work with now I have a feeling for for germinating in peet in keeping damp not dripping and it’s in my boiler room which is at constant 78° and they rocked right out. It’s when the dome came off is when the 2 lost mojo. These next two will be in bigger dome and heated once ready for light. I have tall one with a bottle half keeping humidity up till I get bigger dome kit

Starting seeds is probably the hardest part of growing, they’re very fragile, but you’re doing fine. Don’t get frustrated.

Thank you that’s what I was just saying to my partner who is a outdoor grower so were trying indoor well cause you can’t grow outdoors in northern New England. But I got a real good one out of 3. Hope the other two follow her.
Your a comfort to my frustrated mind u know everyone has their way. Most say no dome they dont need it once the sprout but others say keep it covered till u transplant. And I’m seeing if its warm, damp and humid they shoot out like rockets so untill it dont work it works for me.

Update all but 1 of my 5 widows have grown to seedling, another one had the seed hanging on and turned round leaves brown and sickly. So out of 5 I got one. The others cracked and just never got going. Learning experiences life of a newbie

Sorry. Luck just turns out bad sometimes. Could have let them go a few more days. Wouldnt have hurt. Had a lazy one or two show up around day 9. Think she is still alive somewhere in my yard :joy:
