Keep them under very weak lights for 18 + hours per day…remove some leaves on a regular basis…keep them in small pots… remove some roots on a regular basis…

Yep, basically bonsai them. See my cloning thread on the keeping of clone mothers, same principles apply. I can easily keep plants for months (years even) by using bonsai methods.
