Sorry if I gave bad advise!! Didn’t mean to misinform anyone!!

Sorry…never crossed my mind that you suggested he has to have a meter…which you certainly didn’t say.

BUT, I personally don’t see how a grow can be optimally successful w/o at least a basic Ph meter and PPM pen. I have used them from day one, so maybe that’s just my read on things. I tend to be exacting anyway which may be a fault.

No harm intended, friend.

As far as soil goes, I bought the PotForPot kit. Didn’t know I needed meters but it’s a learning process. I have plenty of AF seeds and only used one for trial and error.

I was asked to split this topic by someone other than the topic starter (owner). I see MT3 is chatting with the new member who could not start their own topic yet, and I see no reason to remove anything.

MT3 if you are OK with helping the other new guy; It’s all good

I would grow two because something could always happen to one. Or if you chose just one there is no way to tell if that seed is the best one to get the best plant from. Go with two they are autos.

PH meter is probably the single most have if your ph is not in good range your plants will suffer

@dbld55, I’d never want anyone to feel forced to buy something, and quite frankly, I grew 2 seasons of outdoor sativas before I bought a Ph meter and a PPM pen. Those plants were anemic, and after looking at the Ph of my source irrigation water, I see why I had issues. Now that I have a Ph meter, I can successfully adjust my water and nute water to keep Ph in the sweet spot for my plants.

It seems to me that Ph tends to be more critical indoors. Rain water outdoors can buffer or mask some ph issues, but indoors it is basically up to the grower to keep Ph under control.

Long story short, a decent Ph meter is probably a very important investment if a grower wants to do things the right way.

This makes sense. If one is a runt, I can cull it and keep the stronger plant. If both are high achievers, I can always move one outside and let it finish up in the sunshine. This may be a good way to compare the yields of indoors vs outdoors come to think of it.

I think flushing to 1000PPM defeats the purpose of having the FFoF soil. It is hot though. You will get some funky leaves on the bottom of your plants but not to worry because it will grow through it. Just watch you pH to make sure it’s in the right range (6.5).

I meant to just give them water as they need it. Sorry for the non clarity

@Killadruid is right. if you just use FFoF and monitor the runoff you will not have to feed until the PPM is below 1000PPM

Got mine off amazon as well. Cheap but highly rated pen types. They have been good to this point. Reliable. Haven’t had to calibrate much but I check every time I use them.

Bout what’s the price for em

Think I paid about 13 each. They need to be rated highly though. There is a lot of junk pH meters and one that are difficult to calibrate so check the ratings and comments.
