Best varieties for high temperature and high humidity

I live in the Delta area in the Midsouth and have had lots of problems with bud rot growing outdoors. This year I planted 9 different varieties and the only one that didn’t have rot was the auto flowers(gorilla glue). I’ve tried everything possible to prevent it but nothing has worked. Is there any varieties that can survive very high humidity? I was lucky enough to get some very good indica seeds back in the early 80’s and never once had a bud rot on me (thieves stole my mother plant one year and never found a good replacement…).

I don’t have an issue with the quality of the flowers from ILGM seeds, that part is just fine. But is there any varieties ILGM has that won’t get bud rot?

The simple answer is no, but there are strains that are more resistant to bud rot. White widow is one of them.

I’d suggest growing mold resistant strains. They’re just resistant. There’s no strain that’s immune to bud rot. The key is good air flow. Make sure you have a good exhaust fan, good fans for circulation and keep your girls pruned for good air flow.

Kinda hard to use a fan growing gorilla style outdoors. I trim the plants but it hasn’t done a lot of good. I’ve also given each plant space so they can dry out ASAP after our morning fall fog.

I never had an issue with bud rot before when I was growing pure indica from seeds brought back from Afghanistan. I had never seen bud rot until I started using these hybrid seeds. I tried several different varieties this year and the only one full season variety that only had one nugget get rot and that was Super Skunk. My White Widows, Gorilla Glue,Runtz,White Rhino, Chronic Widow, Cali Dream,Gold Leaf and MK ultra all had rot. It’s a pain in the rear to grow for months then lose the plants to rot.

I just wanted to find out if anyone else in my area had found a variety that can handle very high humidity.

My White Widows were some of the worst for rot, for some reason they didn’t get very tall and that might have been a factor in why they rotted so bad,not fast enough evaporation after the heavy morning fogs and dew.

Yep that might be a little difficult. I’ve never done much pruning on my outdoor plants. Pretty much just planted them spread out over 150 acres and let them go. Only went back with buckets of water when it got dry. Never had problems with bud rot. It may be something to do with weakening genetics from cross breeding or something. Idk.

The genetics might be a big part of it, but who knows. I have NO problems with any of the varieties potency… they’re all great. But maybe the plants lost some of the toughness during the breeding.

The few I know growing in my area are all having the same issues with the bud rot so it’s not just the ones I’ve tried from ILGM. Just trying to find something that won’t break my heart with a bunch of rotten nuggets every fall.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. As they breed them for more potency and other desirable traits they may be losing some toughness. It happens with animals. There are boutique breeds of dogs that have all the desired traits but are prone to certain illnesses. Don’t see why same type of thing couldn’t happen with plants.

I’ve had some of the best luck with clones made from bag seed mother plants. If your lucky enough to have any seeds from locally grown smoke then give them a try. Already know the breed worked out for whoever grew it because you smoked it. Lol.

Maybe look for less hybridized strains.
