I use a 16” bowl trimmer off amazon that was $120. My take is this, if you try to run airy/larfy buds through the trimmer it will eat them up and it’s better to hand trim those type flowers. If you have nice dense buds the bowl trimmer will make quick work of trimming. Not as fast as cyle and his trim bag but what used to take me 3-4 hours now takes me about an hour.

@aaa Thanks for the tag and for asking about Mrs Merlin. She is doing OK.

I really like the Risentek Model X trimmer. I have not really used it for a “Wet Trim” but I recently “dry trimmed” an entire harvest using the Risentek.

The Risentek does cost nearly twice as much as an iPower or similar trimmer. I don’t have any experience with the lower cost devices so can’t make a comparison. I would suspect similar results from the lower cost units. The key to getting good results with this sort of trimmer is to turn the crank very slowly, about 5 seconds per revolution. Going that slow does take some discipline but after a couple of runs it becomes second nature.

@gwd The reason I went with the Risentek over the lower cost units was due to the extremely robust design and build of the Risentek. Good luck with which ever trimmer you get.

Here are a couple of photos of the trimmed buds from one of my OG Kush plants. The trim will not suit everyone but it works for me.

I do cut the large colas down to size when using the trimmer as it does not do well on huge buds (> 3").

Everyone can, just pour a lot of light on them and keep the environment locked in.

Yeah, after 6 x 9.5% beers I should back away from the iPad. I was laughing about another thread where you were razing @Cyle1 about his spelling or that you were not his spelling teacher!

I hear you, plus with the abbreviated text that’s being used. Most the time I feel illiterate.

Hell, for years I didn’t know what SMH meant . Just looked it up yesterday!

It is worth noting that many pistils and trichomes are knocked off when I machine trim. This does reduce the “Net Yield” by 20% or so. That does not matter to me because I grow way more than I can possibly use. Plus, I dry rub the trim, decarb the keif and make kick ass brownies.

I would love to see side by side trims from the lower cost trimmers compared to the Risentek. As I said earlier, I would expect very similar results if the same buds and technique were used in both cases.
