I’m looking for everyone’s opinions towards alcohol recovery options. I’ve looked at the Source Turbo, and others here may have mentioned other “distillers” they may use. I’m interested in purchasing something, as I have to travel 4 hours to get Everclear 190, and it becomes costly on several levels. Speed isn’t as important as recovery, but I don’t want something I’m going to have to monitor throughout the process, if possible. Thanks for your input!
Source Turbo is gonna be hands down the best method. I believe @AfgVet has a link to a DIY Source. I took a gander but honestly the price looked close to just getting a source if you’re not after making a bigger system I think.
@Caligurl @blackthumbbetty and others have/use the Source I believe. It’s next on my shopping list.

The Source is a great machine. It’s what I started with and I had zero issues with it, it just couldn’t process as much as I wanted.
The DIY build is more along the lines of the Etoh as far as volume goes, but from what I’m reading the DIY set up processes much faster than the other two.
A cheap option is a water distiller. You won’t recover as much ethanol and you have to monitor the temp closely but I know someone who processes hundreds of grams of feco a year with one. You can pick them up fairly cheap.

I use a distiller similar to this. It does have to be monitored because by time it shuts off on its own it will over cook the feco. That being said i like it and produce several hundred grams a year. For every 4 bottles of everclear i get 3 back. The losses dont occur during the distilling process. The losses occur during the soaking as i strain but dont press as im willing to lose some alcohol and not spend the time. 190 here is about 32 dollars per 1.75 litre

A cheap salad spinner is a quick way to get a lot of that ethanol out of the flower.

I swear I learn more from you in a day than most people in a lifetime. I’m gonna have to get in on salad spinners and cheap water distillers - if nothing else it’ll save my wife four to five days of wondering when the f**k I’m gonna move that stupid Pyrex pan of green goo.

You can buy some corn, malted barley, yeast, copper line and couple more things and make your own replacement for everclear. It’s really not that hard.
It’s basically a still to reclaim ethanol from a bud wash. What you’re left with is FECO or what some know as RSO.

So you would end up with the golden liquid ? Or do you have to evaporate all the way to the sticky stuff. Tiny bit confused, lol. I made it once by evaporating all the way to sticky stuff, it was a mess & very difficult to get it all. Seems like liquid would be easier to work with. Is it just a preference or do you need to evaporate all the way? My main use would be for making gummies or chocolates

A silicone baking mat solves a lot of that. I just let mine totally evaporate anymore though, it gets hard (ish) like wax, as opposed to when you scrape it still sort of soft, where it’s like pulling taffy.

Yeah, yours still looks wet. You can let it sit til it’s firm enough to poke and it won’t budge.
Mop up sticky with burnable leaf material, makes concentrated fuel, both THC concentrated and extendable burn time for pipe/bong burning. Good for poor-fair smoke material. Good buds, dont need enhancing. Anybody use Vodka and mix for drinking?

Nothing fancy, i use distiller to recover the everclear until whats in the distiller is still liquid usually about 4oz i put this in a small pyrex bowl and set that in an electric skillet that has a 1/4" of veg oil in bottom and heat until the rest of the alcohol is evaporated and i remove the bowl and put some in 1 ml syringes and the rest let cool then put lid on the bowl and store in a dark place. I keep the syringes in the fridge to use with my wifes cancer treatment when it begins. We go through a lot so it doesnt store long
