I don’t know that there is a formal definition. A lot of folks say 2 weeks and leave it at that.

Personally, I don’t really worry too much about that, I just start counting the age of the plant when it emerges from the soil.

That said, I would consider the last photo to be starting veg.

Its been a LONG TIME since I’ve been able to grow. This grow was from a bag seed. This plants popped thru the soil 7 weeks ago tomorrow. I topped it on February 24th. And with little to no signs of preflower I topped it again yesterday (7 weeks from emerging) and defoliated it again, hoping to keep it vegging and allow this plant to gain oys maximumpotential

. My guess is this could be a photo plant.

There’s 2 stages……veg and flower and no in between. Seedling is a part of veg just like the stretch is a part of flower

I count “stages” like this… Cracked seed (what it sounds like) sprout (when it breaks soil) seedling (still only has 3 finger leaf) veg (5 finger+ leaves) maturity (1st pistils at the nodes) preflower (pistils at tips of bud sites) then full flower (when “hedgehogs” form)

I have a bag seed I am trying out also. (about the size of your #4 pic above) Can’t be certain it’s photo or female.
With yours I suggest taking a cutting, rooting it and forcing it to flower to check if it is female. That way you can leave the “mother” in veg.

I think @Bluntsmoke said it best. I just approximate. Like it takes a few days for roots to get established, or is the transition at flip the start of flower? Or when hedgehogs start hatchin? But bluntsmoke put a pretty good outline there lol

I count veg starting soon as it has multi digit leaves. Then start feeding a week after that on a lite npk ratio.

Cannabis plants generally enter the vegetative stage once they have developed three to five sets of true leaves. This usually happens around two to three weeks after the seedlings have sprouted. However, the timing can vary depending on various factors such as the strain, growing conditions, and genetics.

During the vegetative stage, the plant will focus on growing leaves, stems, and roots. It is important to provide adequate lighting, nutrients, and water during this stage to encourage healthy growth. Once the plant reaches maturity, it will begin to transition into the flowering stage.

It is worth noting that the timing of the vegetative stage can be manipulated by growers through techniques such as topping, pruning, and light schedules. These methods can help to increase yield and promote bushier growth. Good Luck Peace Out
