Another milestone reached. The ladies made it into their final homes. I opted to go with 5 gallon growbags to save some footprint. My other tent is still finishing 2 plants. There’s no way I could have crammed six 7 gallon bags and a couple of 3 gallon pots into my 4x4 even temporarily. Once the bigger tent is done, hopefully in 2 weeks, I will disperse the ladies between the 2 tents. For now, they will live the sardine life.
ok, so moving on to the re-pot. I used Happy Frog, Perlite, and I dumped in a part bag of worm castings I had kicking around. It wasn’t much but no point in tossing it out.
I threw a gallon of soil into the bottom of the bags. Then I set a prefilled 3 gallon (same size as the pots they are coming out of) in the center of the bag and filled the bag up around the pot. I find it easier this way, rather than trying to fill the bag around a pot with a plant in it. Pull the pot out and there is a perfect hole for the new tenant. I threw some Mycos in the hole, removed the plant from the 3 gallon pot, threw a little mycos on the rootball and dropped her in. I then topped the bags off a little and made sure nothing looked off.
After I got all 6 in the bags, I put them up on 13" risers in 13" saucers and gave them some chow. I fed them a 3/4 dose week 4 veg. with the addition of 3/4 dose voodoo juice, cal-mag and a very light dose of Rhino skin. I did some LST to help even the canopy out. I’m guessing in 2-3 weeks they will be ready for the flip.
These 6 girls are sharing the tent with the gelato solo cup, an Althea haze clone and a Blissful Wizard monstercrop clone. I have no idea what will become of those 3 plants. The monstercrop still looks like an alien, The althea suffered a broken stem. I have since started LST from the break and am growing her in a circle around the edge of the pot. The solo is whatever. I’m not sure I will have the devotion to keep up with her in a solo cup for the entire distance. I see people watering, feeding these things 2-3 times per day. My schedule may not work with that.
Who knows how this will all play out. I am looking forward to chopping the first two plants very soon. The bud photo is the Althea Haze.
Been a minute since the last update. Watering, feeding etc as per the AN schedule. I’m finding the GSCE to be more finicky than the Cherry Pie. 1/2 dose seems to be the sweet spot for the GSCE and the Cherry Pie hasn’t stopped eating or drinking, doesn’t matter the dose, no nute burn and takes much more volume to get run off.
I am getting ready to flip these puppies. They are definitely filling their growspaces fast and I don’t want problems as a result. I am going back and forth on where to flower them. Turns out my 5x5 is an inch too tall for the basement.
I took clones today, going to try the oxycloner
I did dry and jar my first plant. Blissful Wizard. 2.5 oz of sticky .
Anyhow, a few pics.
Did a heavy defoliation yesterday. Getting ready to send them into flower. I have noticed some clawing like too much nitrogen. Yesterday, I watered to a good runoff. All 6 of the plants were around PH 5.6-5.8 with 6.8 going in. The ppms were sky high as I kind of expected. Should I be concerned about the PH? I plan to water only for another round and re-measure. I want to flip them ASAP. @Covertgrower @Hellraiser I have been working on a new room to flower in all week. I have questions on that as well, I will add another post below
@Covertgrower @Hellraiser @dbrn32
Gentlemen, I ended up building a 6.5 x 6 ft room to flower in. I’m running two HLG 320xl rspecs with a 260xl rspec in between them. They are spaced 16” apart on center. I’m planning (hoping) to keep the perimeter of the room open enough to move around and work without moving the plants, hence the lights closer together and centered. This first run I have 6 plants in 5 gallon bags. Think I have enough coverage? I do have an additional 260xl, which I would rather use in a different tent. Am I sound in my thinking? I am running an ac infinity T6 in the left rear and a passive intake in the right rear. Large oscillating fan and I can add clip fans where needed. I have an AC on standby once I see what the temps do, also a dehumidifier which I may just run in the lung room.
Looking awesome in there.
Probably would be better with the other 260 kit. But it doesn’t hurt to give it a shot and see.
Thanks, How would you suggest arranging the 4 lights? I’m going to run it this way for a bit until I can afford another light. Should I buy something specific or just grab another 260xl?
Run the bigger fixtures on outside to combat fall off on the edges i would think. If you’re buying specifically for that space, what about just getting third board and driver to convert 260 to 320 kit?
It’s a little complicated because you will have more fall off around edges not having canopy tight with reflective material. But that would give you 3 320 kits, in thinking would do pretty good. It should be about $150 upgrade, imo definitely worth trying.
Looking good, wouldn’t worry about the ph, normal for runoff ph to be a bit lower than input water.
Good call, that never crossed my mind. Just grab a board and the 320 driver? I’m so tempted to go further down the rabbit hole with the 20% Black Friday sale, lol. Thank you
Here they are. Going to Flip this weekend. They had their last neem treatment at lights out tonight.
That’s correct. Plants looking great too!
Thank you for everything. They are getting big, I don’t want to over-veg, lol. Time to send them them to their destiny, lol
Do plants seem pretty flexible? You could maybe use some garden ties or whatever to pull branches out a little. Opening up plant some would get your colas a little more light exposure and help get a good amount of airflow through the plants. After you switch to flowering schedule the plant stems will start to harden off and makes bending a little more difficult to do.
Yes they are still somewhat flexible.I did start them on Silica and can already feel a difference in stiffness. I have been tying them down as they have grown. the bigger ones are easily 6-10 inches outside the pot circle already, lol. They all took a big watering this morning with lots of runoff. PH was 5.5 - 5.6 for all and the PPM was between 1400 and 1900.
I just switched the lighting to 12/12 tonight. @dbrn @Covertgrower @Hellraiser I am open to suggestions on how to approach the next watering/feeding. Do you think I should start them on 1/4 or 1/2 dose flower nutes or continue with water only until PPM comes down a bit more. I’m really trying to avoid a mess with salt buildup and the panic that accompanies it while flowering.
Also, I’m going to order some reflective material for the walls and floor. Building a floating scrog soon as well.
Looks like I’m making some serious heat with these 3 cranked up! 940 watts with just the lights running
There should be a transition recipe for nutrients, that’s what i would use.
gotcha, I will definitely be going light at first. After 2 full heavy waterings I am still seeing a little bit of nute burn on new growth tips
Might want to take it easy on the nutes, yeah go light - no more than 1/4 dose.
