BAR style LED and why PAR map remains centered

Hello,

It’s not readily clear to me why a bar style led light would produce a PAR map with the highest numbers still in the center and decreasing at the edges. My thinking is the bar style would produce a better dispersed uniform pattern. Any thoughts or links welcome.

I believe it is because of overlap.

This is a simple drawing. The circles are the light bars and the light spread coming out of them. The shaded parts is where the highest par readings are because they’re, basically, receiving light from two sources.
