Autopots ph issues again…

Hi everyone, I recently had ph issues with plain water so I received a lot of great advice a few weeks ago. I’m currently in the market for a decent RO portable system. Same issues this time one plant the BF mimosa x is very droopy. I assume because Every 12 hrs I ph the Rez to 5.9 because it’ll shoot to over 7 in the trays! Again my well water is 63f 6.57ph and 92.9ppm. This time I added my nutes which are organic. (Trying to use them up before switching). The plants got huge after 2 days but the ph will not stop rising. When it jumps like that I shut the tanks off, re ph and clear the lines before I open the tanks back up. I’m doing a dry period so I can add recharge and or fish sht. Should I hand water until I get a RO? Any advice is always appreciated.

Bottom right is droopy. The rest seem ok.

If they are droopy… You may want to water.

For RO… I love the RO Buddie:

I added a pump to make it more efficient:

I hated going to the store for RO and distilled water… No more! The DI cartridge brings it down to zero ppm.

Remember there is waste water, after pump added about 50%.

I am on my second AutoPot run, and both times the plants appeared droopy and overwatered after turning on the reservoir. They appeared like yours do. This time after about 10 days after turning on the reservoir. I valved off each AutoPot tray. Waited until it was dried out, and the pot was starting to become somewhat light. Then took advantage of the pot being dry, and set them on a desk for good trimming. Then replaced the pots and turned the trays back to the reservoir. After this the plants looked much better, and are growing at faster rate as well. I thought adding the air domes this time would prevent the droop, but they didn’t.

I have been using a RO system for the last three years or so, and I am very happy with it. It is made for plants, and doesn’t have the final mineral filler or the reservoir that a lot of RO Systems have. It came from HTG supply, and I think they have it now for around $125. As mentioned before if your homes water pressure is not 50 psi or higher, then you will need the pricier one with a built in booster pump.

One more thing that I have noticed about AutoPots with coco. I have moved away from the VPD charts during veg stage, and run a higher transpiration rate. The plants appear happier when the VPD is above 1.0 when on a 18 hour light cycle. I guess too much moisture gets stuck in the plant if the transpiration rate is lower.

I’ve never seen the pump part before. I was looking at liquigen or hydrologic. I saw the buddy but reviews were hit or miss. But the buddy is in my price range. Probably end up with that. I’m kinda scared to water because my first grow I over watered and they drooped. That’s why I assumed there was too much water from it sitting in the tray.

Ok so I’m guess I’m doing the same thing except I took the trays out and Rez to clean. Also not sure if you have any experience with this but one of the pots started bubbling in the tray. I can’t imagine the air hose popped out because it was harder than woodpecker lips to connect to the air dome. I’m not sure if it wasn’t filling the tray enough? That’s when I decided to take them out and give them some dry time.

I see. I have a ro system built in but I can’t get more than a gallon a day and the next day even less. Takes way too much time to regenerate. And it stinks. Don’t really use it anyway. I have a huge well pump and I’m sure It’ll be ok. I didn’t want the Rez RO style either. The buddy I think will hook right to my laundry slop sink faucet.

I noticed the same thing. I turned off my humidifier and it raised my vpd. I’m at .9 or a little over and they seem to like it much better. Just weird that the mimosa is the only one droopy.

Also @Growmoredank, it looked droopy a day before I took them all out of the AP system. Does this mean it’s not wicking up into the pot anymore? I felt the bottom of the plastic pot and it’s still wet… I want to water feed and recharge but afraid to over water.

Yes my RO is mounted above our laundry sink, and this made it easy to connect supply and drain lines. It takes about 15 minutes to draw a gallon of water.
I have no idea why your pot would be bubbling from the air pump. The air line comes in from the top, and the dome sits above the air base and the root control disk. Plus all of this is sitting in the nutrient solution. Can’t really see how the air could get to the bottom of the pots? I did set the air pump to the recommended 15 gallons per hour. Just use a one gallon ziplock, and hold one of the air hoses tightly in the opening. Set the pump to fill the bag in four minutes.

Reefer plants can handle drier times.

Once it tells you to water… Check weight of pots to be sure… Then water.

Same… Nice hookups by my tub… I fill 5 & 3 gallon jugs… Then fill to one gallon jugs as needed. Better than recycling milk jugs.

Ok never thought of the bag trick. All the other plants are looking good and no bubbling at the aqua valve except one. I only noticed when I cleared the lines and cleaned the trays after I set it in the tray and opened the valve to fill I heard it bubbling and noticed it. And it’s not even the plant I have issues with. I just didn’t want all that air to raise ph which is the issue I’m having now. I use an active aqua aapa15l. It’s a little more than halfway on the dial. Weird.

They all seem to be the same weight. No water sitting in the saucers but if I wipe my hand underneath it’s wet.

You may consider removing some fan leaves from the drooping one to allow better air flow through it.

I was going to defoliate but was scared to stress it more. It had some crunchy smaller leafs and some that were limp but still green and already removed underneath closer to the soil. I believe I’m just about to flower so i should probably do that? Most of the leaves on all plants are bigger than my hands and I’m 6’5”. Got over 10oz per plant last run with seed supreme (first grow) but these Barney’s farm look way better than the first run already. So excited! I’ve been tucking and really aggressive with the lst. If you think it’s safe I’ll defol!

RO not needed with these numbers Grow Bro. I didn’t see the auto trays the plants sit in?? Is this an auto drip top feed or auto pot system bottom feed??:love_you_gesture:

@OGIncognito, I had the same thought. It appears that @Brian384 has the the AutoPot trays removed for cleaning, and temporary has the AutoPot containers sitting in regular type drain trays to catch the dripping.

Yes it’s a 4 pot 6.6g autopot xl system split between two tanks. I thought I needed RO because my well water makes my Rez tanks stink terribly and I can’t keep the ph stable at all. Most numbers I read peoples Ph rises are .x or .xx but mine goes from 6.0 to 7+ in less than 24 hrs. And everyday I’m using ridiculous amounts of ph down. I only use a small wave maker so the water wouldn’t be stagnant. And this was happening with plain water before I even used nutes. So when I noticed the bubbling from the aqua valve and ol girl looking droopy I took everything out and cleaned now their sitting on the saucers I used last grow to dry.
