Just looking ahead. I see people talk about them for the kief. Besides collection that do they making trimming easier? If so does anyone have a real advantage or is it just preference?
I use a cookie sheet for trimming. Can’t imagine I’d ever need a special tray or bin.
Trim bins aren’t needed. They don’t make anything easier besides the collection of Kief. Before I got the trim bin I’d just trim over a trash can.
Thanks. Don’t need any harvest day surprises.
Just need trimming sheers, some rubbing alcohol to clean off your sheers when they get gummed up and something to drop the trimmings into.
I thought the trim bin was a vast improvement as far as ease of use. The depth was great as I had no trimmed buds flying over the edge and getting all over the floor. I did an entire plant (6ozs) in an hour or so, nice and neat, large well for going over cut buds if you want to segregate smaller buds. May not be the end all but made it easier for me. Just one of those tools that make things more efficient. I wouldn’t want to trim a few pounds this way but my in single grows it makes sense and the Keif is a great bonus as I’m still smoking it now as it dont take much!
Some trim bins come with screens on the bottom, separating kief from other plant material. The high sides can be an advantage, as other mentioned, it’s frustrating when you cut off a bud and it fly’s across the room. They are designed with comfort in mind, but are not necessary.
I’m sure there are cheaper solutions than the trim bin, but I like them because i can sit in bed with the tray on my lap and listen to books on tape.
