Are my buds going bad?

So this plant is about 5 weeks into flowering. A lot of pistils are turning amber but I noticed this discoloration on some of the flower. I haven’t seen these colors on my other plants. What’s the diagnosis?

That looks like normal colors expressing themselves. But the big bug (orange circle)and these little bugs(purple circle) are a problem.

Yes that’s an onoing thing I’m dealing with. Just picked up Neem oil and D. Earth and applied today. I didn’t notice how bad it was

Neem oil should NOT be used during flower. The buds absorb the oil and it doesn’t rinse/wash away.

They are looking fine. But don’t use any insecticides while flowering.

Spinosad, the ingredient in jacks dead bug, is safe for flowering plants.
I agree in general, but Spinosad is an organic bacteria the kills insects but is harmless otherwise. Washes off unlike neem oil or other poisons. Spinosad just works differently.

Just picked this up from my local greenhouse supply. Locally made and natural. It claims it’s safe to use until the day of harvest. Which is a wild claim. So we’ll see. But the ingredients seem relatively safe and pretty concentrated. It’s 1oz per gallon

I would like to chirp in here and ask, how are these looking?

… And where do you think I am in the “grow cycle” with these? … Yes, I am actually asking.
…Onward with the adventure.

Looking very good.
Keep up the good work.
Indoor or Out grow?

Hey DDDave, this is Robert’s GoldLeaf and it is outdoors in Southern CA…
In an other … post … I have here I ask what stage the plant is in. I do wonder, how close to the next steps am I? … Post: First Grow, Outdoors w/ Robert’s Gold Leaf Feminized

And 808Dredd, how did that Plant Wash & Root Cleaner do for you?

Yo! So I can’t really speak on the spray just yet. It was way beyond the point of return but I kept up with it till the end. I’m not sure if it deterred the bugs at all but next time I’ll do it habitually from the start just for prevention. And I can’t say that I taste anything really off that would say the spray effected the buds itself

Secondly, about your plant. You’re definitely flowering at this point. The plant growing will take a backseat and give priority to flowers now. The question is now is how big are the flowers compared to the plant and how many days/weeks has it been since you first noticed the Flower developing

So 808Dredd, good day to you. Glad to hear your taste of the farmer’s wasn’t there. ( Yes 808D, I think I can be funny and, in person or by e-note I’m clearly not as humorous as I heard it in my head… often. Enough about me. …) … I am glad the bugs will be getting their feedings more regularly with your next planting cycle.

First sightings of flower, 17 August. And Dredd… this was a … 12 weeks … late planting showing the “first and second” sets of leaves 1 July.

13 Aug., the plant was just over a foot high.

These were showing 17 August. And I was glad to see the numbers of similar starters around the rather short stem. … I do believe this Gold Leaf Feminized had shot up well. Now, my flowering friend is just over 2’ tall.

These were trimmed off 25 August. I read something about … thinning. … But, would you trust a really skinny cook? lol Thinning, … so I trimmed a circular staircase so to speak.
… …

And now … mid September … I am seeing changes in the flower. As for relative size to the plant, … hard for me to gauge that, … flower < 5% of height … maybe-ish?

And for it’s closeup pictures, Dredd, are you using a loop, magnifying glass to look into the … trichomes, or is your camera lens enough?
… …

… …
Hey Dredd, do you live over there on the islands … where the “bug-food” comes from?

So flowering is a whole other time table compared to vegetation. Once it starts flowering, it’ll be 8-10 weeks of flowering alone. So you’re about halfway for sure. By the 8th week, I would be paying more attention to Trichromes. I have a 5x loop with the help of my phone.

But for now, just tend to it as you have been and watch for bugs. The concentrate that I got was local here in Oahu, Hawaii. But some on here do recommend some store brands, even during flowering stages. The next time I grow, I’ll be more attentive and spray before any bugs for prevention because once they start infesting it’s hard to get rid of them without harming your buds
