The farmer is unfamiliar with the budwashing process, and claims that the buds dont feel sticky anymore after the wash, and thinks that we are washing away the stuff on them.

I told him they feel less sticky after they dry, but he still feels that we are damaging by doing the bud wash, and the stuff just grows in the wild and people dont wash them and stuff.

I just wanted to ask about this to show him others response to if bud washing damages the buds? We are using the 5 gallons of water and 1 cup of peroxide method.

I have washed every plant that I have grown in the last six years.

Many, many outdoor growers have been rinsing harvested plants for decades. Trichomes are NOT water soluble. Just don’t beat them up while you are rinsing.

If your buddy doesn’t want to rinse them, that is fine too. Many folks never rinse their buds.

I ensured him there is no harm being done. I told him to do the wash you just cut the fan leaves off, trim the sugar leaves over the trim tray, and then stick the trimmed bid on the stem into the bucket and swirl it around for 10 seconds ( its never that, always shorted then ten, im just a musician and a stickler for timing). But after the wash i shook off the excess and hung them to dry like my other stuff. My buds i have from my last plant arent sticky, and they turn me into a baked potato!

I swirl mine for 30 seconds… :smiling_imp:

And unless you use crazy cold water, the bud wash shouldn’t take away too much trichomes. Sure you will lose a little bit of trichomes, but those will be trichomes that would already be fragile and would have fallen off eventually anyway, imo…

I am with @kaptain3d on the 30 seconds although I have been guilty of shorting it sometimes.

This is my first time using my phone for the forum.

I just bud washed some apple fritter.
I did 3 buckets.
1st - 1/2c baking soda 1/2c lemon juice w/water
2nd - 1c peroxcide w/ water
3rd - plain water.
First time washing buds for me. Some of the best smoke Ive grown. Dont seem like the wash hurt anything to me.
