Anyone ever try these bulbs?

grow%20light

Newbie here. Curious if anyone has any experience with LED grow light bulbs. I’m giving them a run at the seedlings for a couple of weeks until I turn on the 600 W LED.

Coupled with a reflector you should be ok for seedlings
You’ll want to be in the 4100k color range which is more blue then red

Thank you, I was hesitant to use them but they are all I have available at the moment. I had no idea
CFL bulbs were so difficult to purchase locally. Seeds are popped and in their medium. First grow.:):slightly_smiling_face:

@vidnightoker cfl bulbs are getting harder to find in most markets with new efficiency laws and all

You can find them on amazon if you really want to

I’ve used both CFLs and those type of LEDs, in a clamp on reflector. I’ve found that the LEDs are slightly more efficient, and generate a little less heat. They veg a good plant :+1:

those will do fine on seedlings for a few weeks,
they may do even better if u remove the plastic ‘shatter resistant’ cover.!

I forgot to mention that part. You get quite a bit more intensity with the dome removed.

Thanks SlowOldGuy and elheffe702. I just attempted to remove the cover but it appears to be a challenge to remove. Any tricks to it would be appreciated.:slightly_smiling_face:

A little heat from a hair dryer will soften the glue holding it on. Then you can use a screwdriver blade to carefully pry between the dome and the base of the bulb. It’s really easy to stab yourself, be careful.
