i mean from the cheapest RAP qmol meters this looks very promising because the data logging, of course its not needed, you can calculate everything yourself… is this any good? im wondering…

@BadGrandpa007 @MidwestGuy

Although I haven’t tried that specific meter… It’s got some great options and features.

But the logging really is for science data. If you’re just trying to grow reefer and not worried too much about keeping track of all data, I’d get a regular one… But if you’re not saving much the features can be useful.

On another note… I am working on an app that a grower can track data daily rather than 24hrs per day…

Please check out my thread… Once it’s done I’ll be putting it on Google playstore… Only android at this point.

I am always looking for input from the community.

Also…when it comes to quantum meters… There’s also the Photone app… Many have had successfully used it in here to grow awesome buds. I personally haven’t had great luck with it. But I am just one person.

Good luck and nice to meet you @BadGrandpa007

Feel free to reach out if you’ve got any questions!

thanks for the input! the photone app on android phones is crap, its works good with the filter with newest iphone models thoug… i actually dont need the data, because in reality there is no szcience needed. te plants need 1. nutritions 2. light 3. climate… im just wondering if somebody is using the BRV100 or VRB200 and is able to compar maybe even to little more expensive devices like te PhotoBio cheapest models…

I have bought a couple off Amazon… They were good enough to get you where you need.

I also have an apogee quantum meter… $$$… They are closer to the apogee results than the result I got off the Photone app.

I would definitely recommend one.

yeah i wil buy one, i tried to calculate ir umols etc with simple lux meter, but i burned my plants before that, so i cant trust that device fully… i need that SUN because i have a lot of CO2… i wonder if far red spectrum and the U-V also matters, because these all cheap ones do not recognise nothing outside 400-700nm…

how do you think, how much % is the apogee more precise than the other cheaper models? are we talking about 10umols? 1 umol or 0.1 umol?

It’s been awhile since I tested the two against each other…

I’ll charge up the Amazon and get back to you.

As far as uva sensor… I have an apogee uva sensor as well… Expensive… …but not sure if there’s a cheaper manufacturer with another uva sensor.

I got by using uva by the manufacturer recommendations of time and distance from canopy… Generally 12 hours per day max… At 28-36" depending on if it’s attached to my hlg 600 Rspec(28-36") or the 650R(31-36").

Charged…

Apogee

Amazon from same location

It was a bit over 900 but when I’d take the pic my arm shifted… They are very sensitive.

jesus, is that android off… as i said, androids do bad job with photone app, its not usefull at all. i bet all the qmol meter devices in price between 100-160usd will show ± same results, i lets be real, just for plant growing it is enough even to have 10qmol resolution…

i ordered this one, will be ok i think  LINK

And it’s an android Pixel Fold… Fairly new!

Before I bought the apogee sensor… I used the Amazon one in my pics… It was one of the first for sale on Amazon at the time… It helped me grow great reefer. Purchased mine 02-09-21…the only issue I’ve had is the built in rechargeable battery doesn’t hold a charge very long anymore.

That issue started last summer… Bought the apogee.

I am using the Photon app. It’s only been a week, so time will tell. The app’s makers have a good blog that explains very well the Light 4 measuring functions and the impact on the plants, plus there are useful printable charts.
I had no clue about the subject and at first it looked a bit daunting but I read everything, printed my charts and I am now confident with all the terminologies, measuring and light values :sunglasses:
