I just got rid of my russets after almost a year fight them. Here’s my advice, take it or leave it.

Kill everything and sterilize the grow space with bleach 1:10 water. Throw out all pots, soil, etc or you’ll get a re-infestation. Gas the room and grow space with ProKure G. (Optional, Wait 21 days, to make sure no eggs are missed, and if so, no food source available.) Bleach spray/wipe down everything again. Start from scratch.

HOLY :poop: !! Those things sound serious. Is this something you’re picking up in the soil when you buy it? I feel for you @Growsautos I hope you get rid of everything.

Purchased Clones, usually; but can also come from infested forest litter used to make soil. Usually from buying clones (deserves to be said twice).

I had never heard of them before but was reading one of Ed Rosenthal’s books and saw them. He says this about control

Russet mites are about the worst pest ya can get
If you found them by seeing them and maybe no real damage to plants then treating heavily with predatory mites could maybe be effective :man_shrugging:
But if you’re infested a full nuke and reset may be in order

Tried:
Predatory mites
Rotating 4 through different types of sprays on 5 day intervals, so they don’t build an immunity.
Finally sulfur burns to get to harvest.

Gotta gas em with ProKure G

I didn’t see any damage i have a microscope and while i was looking for sex i got curious and wondered what the undr side of the leaves looked like and i saw maby 3 russet mites on the leaf so i checked all 9 plant’s and only a few had them so i sprayed with sulfur ect then i took clones and covered them in sulfur and clonded them…i got um from a clone i bought that looked ruff so i tossed it within a few days of getting it cuz it wasn’t worth my time…i have living soil so i don’t really wanna throw away 70+ gallons of soil i do have predator mites in the soil and noticed them on the plants also…i have no issues killing the mothers…what are the odds of the clones still having mites covered in soil

So u think the mites can live on the clones with sulfur all over them…i see i said soil i ment sulfur

And if there is no food there is no russets right…cuz i can re compost my soil and that should cook and starve them right

I killed everything plant wise to much of a risk and im a newish grower with only 2 years under my belt and if ppl with years of experience are telling me im screwed my as well listen cuz if i was to get into flower and they were to come back i wasted even more time…thanks for the helpful ideas and info

They’re in the soil. They’re inside the plant tissue, litter in the pots, and any pieces of bark. That’s because the hide in there. They’re in the air. Their eggs are everywhere.

You can try to completely submerge and soak your soil in 110° water for several hours.

Heard heat treatments work. Something like 150° space overnight. That still requires you sterilize everything outside the environment as well to get the eggs that means tearing down the ventilation and fans, etc. everything.

Cook the soil or remove it from your property…composting doesn’t seem to kill them…the only thing worse are broad mites…predatory mites can work but its a battle…bomb the place ,replace or sanitize literally everything…good luck brother grower

So i killed all 12 plants boiled/baked the soil then put down a D.E and sulfur barrier and heated up mu tent to 150+ for 3 hours and got predator mites and the auto i had goin in the same tent as the others wasn’t affected witch i don’t understand why but i dusted her in sulfur and kept the sulfur on her for a week or so and shes now in flower and doin well i didn’t have a infestation i feel i caught them in time and i now have 12 more plants growing and so far so good the mites have exploded in population…i don’t want to jinx myself but so far so good

150 degrees in the room. Man seems to me the paint and all would peel off the wall. Lol. I set mobile homes. One day we had a house I lit and water checked. Came back 3 days later to finish the cabinet handles that were missing from the house and came in on order. Got in house and had a furnace issue where furnace stayed on running and didn’t shut off. 3 days full running closed windows. I wonder if my boss still has the pics I sent him. Everything that had trim glued on peeled off. Every counter edging and all. Anything that was glued on came off. So needless to say the handles didn’t get done. All the cabinets in the house needed redone all counter tops and all. It was a complete mess from just the heat running. Lol.
