I didn’t want to post a grow journal originally. In the event that I totally messed up, I wanted to save myself the embarrassment. And, to be honest, this is not so much a grow journal so much as it is a testimonial about the genetics of ILGM.
I purchased the Blueberry Auto and White Widow Auto seeds because I needed something easy for beginners to grow. I didn’t want to mess with the light timing and I have to grow in a smallish cabinet which I knew would not be lightproof. I didn’t know what to expect. I had read all kinds of bad-mouthing of autoflowers so I wasn’t hopeful that anything major would come of it.
Well, here I am 56 days from germination and here are the results so far:
I suppose I should tell you a few things about my grow as well…
My cabinet is 1.5’ x 2.5’ x 4’. I lined it with Reflectix insulation on three sides. I have a HLG Quantum Board 135 watt LED light. I am growing in 9.2 Liter air pots with Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil. From day 10 on, I have used Advanced Nutrients Sensi Bloom A & B and Sensi Cal/Mag Xtra. I added Carboload and Overdrive in later in the cycle. And my tap water here on Massachusetts is complete garbage, so I’ve been using distilled water.
Looking great
Sounds like you are ready for some photo period plants.
I’m currently growing a blueberry and northern lights autoflowers but I’m trying my luck in the great outdoors. Hopefully with any luck they will loom as good as yours.
Tomorrow is their last day of feeding, then 10 days of water only before harvesting on the 12th.
I probably could have done better but about half way through, they both started showing nutrient deficiencies. My pH and ppms were perfect, so I dimmed my light a little bit. It turns out I was pulverizing my poor babies with photons. It’s probably what kept them short. They’re only 14 inches (35.5 cm) tall.
One piece of advice I would give is to try not to freak out at every little thing you notice. Take your time. Ask around. Get the issue sorted and the plants will rebound. They are weeds and they want to grow.
Another piece of advice I would give is to be patient. Trust me, I know how difficult it can be, but it is so worth it. These ladies only started packing on the weight in their buds in the last couple of days. Had I started to finish up when I first thought about it, I would have missed out on some phenomenal overnight growth.
I would need a new setup for photoperiods. I already feel like I’m walking a pretty thin line with the missus as it is. Plus, I kind of like the autos. I figure that I could get in five harvests a year with autos. That’s more than enough for me and ten of my closest friends.
Yes sir I here you there. Really it is whatever works best for you and your situation. The autoflowers I am growing now are my first ones I’ve only ever grown photos up to this point. I am thinking of doing a couple autos when I do my indoor grow this year (I only grow indoors in the winter months as I found it easier to control temperature etc.) to compare to what I get outdoors with my current autos.
Autoflowers have come a long way since they were first introduced.
The last time I smoked anything it was compressed brick weed from Mexico…some time back in the early 90’s. I have no idea if it was an autoflower or photoperiod. I don’t know the strain. I don’t know how it was grown. Had to smoke two to three bowls just to get baked.
I’m sure that these plants will be 100X better than that…if not better.
Before I dropped my first seed, I did tons of reading. People bad-mouthed autos and LEDs. I found small pockets of auto-loving LED users, but not many. What I decided was that for my personal stash, this was the best way for me to go.
Other people like other things, and I’m totally cool with that. You want to try to grow a pounder …cool…just not for me. It’d take me two years to smoke a pound. I don’t know how many of my friends are hip to smoking weed because they’re all stuffy professional types, so basically, it’s just for my personal use…and I’m pretty sure I’m a lightweight.
@mcpd_refugee I was suppose to harvest yesterday but I have some type of flu or something so I decided to wait until im better. They will be fine for a nother week or so there’s not much amber tris on them yet.
I’ve got the same thing. I tried going back to work today. Only made it through half the day before my boss ordered me to go home before making the whole office sick.
I started my girls on their final stretch today. I’ll be harvesting them next Friday or Saturday.
