Adding eggshells to living soil

I’m trying to supplement my soil for a second grow and wondering how many eggshells per week do people use in their living soils (vegetative stage)?? Also how much worm castings per week in addition to regular fertilizer. For 3 weeks I’ve been adding 2eggshells and 1 TBSP worm castings per week. If it matters this is a Revegging experiment.

A plant will be ready for harvest long before the elements in eggshells are broken down enough that they would be bioavailable to the plant. It can offer a long-term benefit, but it can take years for eggshell to break down in soil even if crushed before applying.

It would be best used in compost that you use after it has had the chance to sit in the compost for a few months.

I can’t speak to worm castings dosing.

I’m 31 days late and somehow missed that you are the member of the month. Congratulations. You are very active helping people and you’ve definitely earned it.

Me too. Usually a couple hours each morning while I work and occasionally an afternoon. Rarely here in the evenings.

lol. I go through a dozen eggs every 3 days. I’ve been eating clean and spending a lot of time in the gym for the past several months.

I dry out my egg shells first then put them in my blender.it pulverize’s them.they then get watered in.Not real sure it makes a difference but it makes me happy.
Being powdered I’m sure it breaks down much faster.give it a go.I do the same with banana peels.

I crush them and add them to the soil. What else are they good for? They break down slowly so you don’t have to worry about adding too much. They help with drainage and add a little calcium over time.

Composting outdoors, or just digging a hole about foot deep and buring it over the years in the west texas sun brought worms into an area not known for digging and finding worms.

Just add water to keep worms closer to the surface prior to diggin for fishin.

My grandmothers composted their whole lives, and their gardens always thrived.
