hey guys, I’m pretty stumped about this. My one auto at 14 weeks rn is in the last week or so of flowering, and pretty much all over at least one cola is what look to be actual little hairs in my bud? It doesn’t looks anything like spider mites to me but I could be wrong. This is zoomed in while looking through my jewelers loupe. It’s not like this on all of the colas either, only like one really. Maybe a couple small hairs here and there but nothing like this one. Does anyone know what this is?

Just looks like stray hairs to me.
Do you have a dog or cat?
I often get them, just get some tweezers and remove them.

We do have 2 dogs but they’re never downstairs and it seems really excessive considering they’re like all over this one cola and it’s not like I go in there covered in dog hair you know?

Thats just hairs from your dogs. It makes its way all over the house and inside the tent. I have the same problem with my cat. Get a Cannabrush and when you harvest they come right off.
Did you take that pic through a jewlers loupe? So it is possible?

I have a dog that doesnt even go downstairs where my tents are, i still find little white hairs in there ocasionally. Lol

Hairs stick to you and ur clothes and probably just fall off when u open tent and check on plants. My dogs are not allowed in the room my tent is in and still i have hairs i pull of my gal every time i check on her.

well I’m not exactly sure what they are @Kingdom_Living but I highly doubt there from a dog or cat. Mine were grown outside and I had them too. I thought that maybe they were remnants of spider webs that got blown away but I doubt that too. I wouldn’t even worry about them. They’ll smoke up just fine.

I’m going with garden variety lint.
Just general fibers from carpet, clothing, furniture, etc.
Maybe that “one cola” just has stickier tric’s

Unfortunately I got scared and sprayed it with neem oil. Now I fear it’s gonna smell/taste weird

Nah, By the time you dry and cure them that oil will probably have dissipated by then. Or if you’re still worried you can do a bud wash after you harvest. I wouldn’t sweat it man.

I’ve been watching videos about bud washing but I don’t know if I’m going to do all that. I feel like soaking my weed in water is a really scary thing to do lol I’d be worried about mold or terpenes/oils being messed with. Do you wash your buds?
No I don’t. I don’t get into all this crazy stuff. If there’s a little bit of bud rot I’ll cut it out, dry it and cure it and smoke it. Hopefully your next grow won’t be as hairy, lol.

Lol yeah I’m not gonna wash them either… I feel like they’ll be fine. Even after using neem oil she’s still super sticky and smells great IMO. She’s at week 14 and she’s an auto:. I’m thinking this will be her last week. I still fed her again yesterday with some cha Ching. I’m not doing the whole flush thing, after doing a lot of research I feel like it doesn’t really do anything, so I feed up until harvest

Another viewpoint. I alwys wash my bud for this exact reason. Pet hair, human dander/skin cells, bug stuff…this cleans your bud and makes it much smoother. Trichs are oil based and oil and water do not mix so no worries the wash messing up your bud. Now neem oil, that will mess up your flower. Right after I chop I have my wash station ready to go and hang my washed buds for 4 hours with an oscillating fan blowing on them as it moves from left to right. Here is a pic of them drying from the wash prior to putting them in the tent for the 10 day slodry.

Didnt even mention, the first time i washed, was only a medium sized cola. So i had my non washed 97% of the plant and then the one cola washed. After the dry and 14 day cure…couldnt wait any longer…the difference was definitely noticed in the smoke. So for your own personal xp try it.
They’ll be alright. A lot of folks prefer to not spray anything in flower, me included, but it shouldn’t cause any ill effects to terps or flavor. Especially with a bud wash as you suggested.
I have never sprayed anything on my plants during any stage of their life thus far. So I have no real worls xp on the neem, I have seen many respected growers here say that neem oil will affect your bud, flavor smell etc… I appreciate the feedback. Gonna do some research.

It’s not something you’ll want to do close to harvest time. I’m not a fan of spraying buds with anything. I’ve had bud rot and don’t want to help contribute to it.

Do you wash your buds? I’m super close to harvest and just now realizing I think I need to wash because I sprayed with neem oil. I’ve never done it before
