Thank you for the positive feedback! I check all the stems and buds right before lights out so far nothing but a round leaf or two. No bananas or watermelons.
Here is an update on my plant. 8 weeks from flip yesterday. It’s bulking up pretty nice. I still think it has 4 weeks to go or so. Don’t you?
Yup. Appears she’s gonna be just fine. Lol crisis avertd.
Timing wise, 4 weeks sounds spot on
Thanks, this plant hasn’t even had a single leaf die yet.
Happy healthy plant haha!
Love the gate and they look beyond great, like Tony the Tiger ggrrrreaaat……
If I may ask a question here about GDP clones I’ve got outdoors (first time growing this strain outdoors)
I am asking for any advice before I screw up. My intention is to just water and maybe add bootstrap molasses but that’s it
So I’ve got 6 GDP clones that have been outdoors almost 16 weeks in 10 gallon fabric pots soil in FFHF/perlite and AN nutrients (then switched to Jacks clone nutes briefly but just PH’d water since)
I just defoliated 2 days ago and cleaned them all up as I’d seen some flowers showing on a couple.
I am pretty sure the maturity trumps the sunlight outdoors in terms of where these girls are at although I’m not totally confident it’s the maturity.
In other words, if they’re 16 weeks in veg and showing flowers, that’s a done deal. I should stop nipping out the extra bud sites and just let them go, is that correct?
I will need to get a head count on the tops for each and will really try to keep that to 12 or less. That’s the big issue for me; pay now or pay later (larf)
I just top dressed them all with some organic worm castings and fresh Promix but that’s it. Just trying to finish them right. Also have installed a drip itmrrigation system that I’m not finished tweaking yet.
Before and after defoliating (pics are pretty hard to gauge maybe)
TY all in advance
I’m not sure how to answer your question, but I love the little pen. I need that. Your plants look good and healthy. I have a friend in Missouri who has a GDP outdoors (same seed stock as mine, he gave me a seed), and his has not started flowering yet either. Also, I wouldn’t defoliate anymore. I think the leaves are very important to the plant.
I salvaged that well before I decided to use it for this lol
It was a dog run my wife wanted out of the back yard and I just cannot see trashing hood stuff. Turns out after actually reading the legislation here in MA, I had to have them locked and out of public sight without use of binoculars or from the air. I had automatically put a locking doorknob on the indoor space being prudent I guess. I use my old kryptonite bike lock to secure the door; no barbed wire or turrets yet.
My question is really simple.
If the plants are showing flowers this early in an outdoor setting (meaning I’ve got possibly several weeks or more to develop colas before a serious risk of frost) then how do I manage trimming or topping?
I’ve been really helped by Kyle Kushmans “chiropractic” technique on training trimming and super cropping but now I’m kind of confused.
The focus of his video seemed to be on indoor growing but I’m pretty sure that’s not exclusive. I may have to watch it again. His techniques are pretty general in that respect for minimizing wasted effort by either grower or plant.
He advises to keep just 3 Bud sites on every branch. Any branch less than 1/2 the height of plant gets chopped.
It’s really a radical thing for a former guerrilla grower like me (my last grow was way back in the 70’s and 80’s) Back then it was just plant em, sex em, pull the males and try to get Sinsemilla.
I think I’m asking if there’s gonna be any stretch like there is indoors once they start to flower. I think I need to review my question because it’s an outdoor question more than a strain or beginner question.
I may have to apologize……
Again
They will stretch when they start flowering. If I were you I’d probably just let them do their thing at this point. I have a friend in MA that doesn’t do anything in the way of topping or training and his plants look great. Here’s a pic he sent me from 7/11. He’s in full flower mode now.
That’s why I love this group. No matter how stupid my question seems to me if I ask it I get good responses, always.
And its always a good idea to get a second opinion
TY
I agree.
I’m trying with these outdoor plants to really be disciplined in my routine. It’s a huge change and that’s not to say these girls may not be as prolific as they could have been.
I’ve been at this modern growing just over a year and it’s a lot of information and change to process and implement.
I have had a really hard time tossing out trimmings or topping or defoliating generally.
However, when it’s time to harvest I’ve paid very dearly. Lol
Recently I aggravated an old back injury and that’s also forced me to be brutal with the thinning and trimming.
I am pretty sure these outdoor girls have already provided me with a new degree of confidence and it’s really a big deal.
I have recently been told nicely to get my sh__under control.
Too many plants, too many clones……
Now I’m actually scheming
“maybe if I harvest the outdoor crop early enough I can get 6 more outside and stay within the legal limit”
Lol
I know I’m late to this but is your grow journal the Train Wreck? I’d like to follow that as I’ve got a couple outside that popped first week of June. I got them from same place I got some DoSiDo I think. Im holding off doing anything radical to them as they’re all recovering from mild over feeding and leaf burn. They’re just getting PH’d water now and looking much better. I’ve got 2 Train Wreck 2 Cement Shoes and 2 Chocolope outside I’m hoping will be mature enough to deliver some decent colas before November. I got a couple clones as well before the wife told me to chill the cloning bucket. I gifted away 30 GDP monster clones the other night and have more that I’m afraid might end up orphaned on somebody’s door step lol
The daily check of timers and connections is a solid bit of wisdom as well. Been there a few times myself.
The Journal is Bunny Jane’s Second Grow. I have two Trainwrecks that I just cut down and my hub is already tasting them! He says good flavor and nice buzz. After a good cure they should be better.
