Hey all,
I’m on my first indoor grow but have 4 outdoor grows that turned out reasonably well under my belt. I have a 20"x36"x63" tent that I bought just for the purpose of drying but since I have it I thought why not get a couple of winter/spring grows going indoors. I did find out that while the AC Infinity heater I have is working fine for temp control it’s cooking the humidity right out the air. I’m kind of annoyed because I fight too high humidity at times in my outdoor grows but that’s how it goes. Has anyone, counter to AC Infinity’s guidance, ran the exhaust hose pointing down in their tent? I’m finding that when i do so is working much better and I’m willing to live with a few drips on my floor. I am using distilled water. Below are a few photos taken with my very outdated IPhone6s mediocre camera
I run my humidifier hose directly into the bottom of the tent (doesn’t matter where) I have a small Tupperware dish that catches the water that may drip out.
I use a small 6-in floor fan on the opposite side of the tent blowing across to keep that humidity blowing all over the place.
I personally don’t recommend ever putting your hose at the top of your tent due to leaking water on your plants below (my opinion)
Thanks for replying Serf! Going from the bottom they warn the outlet hose could collect water and block flow from coming out. Coming in from the top with a slight downward slope they warn about potential drips creating puddles. So far I don’t see that happening and my humidity is over 50% now. I think I’m just gonna roll this way unless someone has a real horror story.
Can you run them both through the same lower port? Might leave some gaps but i use a sock or something to seal anything when im running chiller line hoses.
Thanks Lostgirl,
I do have a 6" fan circulation fan inside and a 6" intake inline fan and a 6" inline exhaust fan both mounted outside the tent. I do have pretty fair circulation. Where I mounted the hose outlet is away from the plant but if I see a puddle I will go with your tupperware idea. Are you using the AC Infinity going into a bottom port?
Thanks all for all the good suggestions. Lostgirl was right, if I don’t have the hose sloping up I do need something to catch drips resulting in puddles (found that out fairly quickly). For now I am running the hose with an upward slope but as far as the hose will reach away from the exhaust fan inlet to hopefully keep the humidity in the tent. if that doesn’t work bottom port it is with a dish to collect drips.
I have an ACI humidifier. I point mine slightly up at top of tent. I keep the hose as short and as straight as possible. Some people get dripping out of hose end and put a little catcher to collect the water. You don’t want water going back into humidifier, which can happen with tight bends.
Thanks, that’s what I ended up doing but I stretched the hose a little to keep the exhaust fan from sucking the humid air right out. It’ll definitely drip on me without that upward slope. I’m also keeping the hose as straight and short as possible. In the end I just put it inside the tent. I may indeed just DYI one like Lostgirl, with a large reservoir and better suited for routing in the bottom port of the tent.
