Probably not if you feel like you can adjust as needed without it. But it will also operate as normal fan with speed control.
I have a 4 in witht eh controler. They are worth the money for sure. It is suggested that if runni g with a filter to to up a size, and the controler is great i will run two fans of the same size of one controler. They operate as one both running at same speed and powering on and off together. I run two 4" on one controler. Ine as intake and one as exhaust. I was using the 35.00 visiosun fan. I will be upgrading to the ac line.
