Above ground and growing

So sip with a res. That’s a cool idea. I might have to incorporate that into my future SIP plans. I was going to try this round, but got distracted by reviving the outdoor grow. Thanks for the detailed explanation.

I dump em before every water. Kind of a hassle. But definitely don’t want sitting in run off. Like you said who knows who’s guess. I haven’t been testing runoff, just input pH and ec. I just feed twice a week and water once in-between feeding. 2.2 EC and 6.5 ph. Keep it simple. As far as cleaning them I’ve been super slack. Last time was when I cleaned the tent.

:100: DIY’able :metal: One of the negs on their system is the upfront cost. Piecing your own system together can save you big bucks.

Got an old turkey baster around the house? You got a few months before anyone would even notice its missing :smiling_imp:

@Flatnut If the bottom of your pot drys out then it’s not a big deal. If it stays wet as is the case with most coco grows sometimes the roots can grow down into the runoff. dumping your saucers a while before watering gives them time to air prune before the saucers fill back up. It stops them from growing through the pot as bad. Also if you have a shop vac to suck out your saucers it saves a lot of time and effort. IMO it’s worth having a dedicated cheapo in the grow room.

Especially when I have half of it laying around already. Plus I can customize it for my larger space.

@Gl1tch man, I got a small wet/dry shop vac somewhere. Be good to have for all the messes.

When I was a kid we always watered Mom’s plants to runoff then let suck back in. No nutes though.

@SeaOhAre Why you just want to see a man get his butt kicked? Lol I did think about a turkey baster. My wife is the kind of woman, I could re-sod front yard and she wouldn’t notice, take a turkey baster out of the back of a kitchen drawer, she will sense the disturbance…(Do your best Obi voice)

Apple fritter auto day 53 above ground.

Got this starting. I looked around and read about it. It’s spreading a bit so has me a little alarmed.

3 gallon pot
Vpd 1.2-1.3
DLI 44
FFHF
Ph 6.5
EC 2.1 (running high).
Base A and B Nutes
Water every other day with 1 gallon to 10-20% runoff

Haven’t done any output checks as of yet

I watered 2 waterings in a row and didn’t feed. This started to happen so I fed my last watering. Is it eating itself as I didn’t give it food for two waterings? I ask because right as this happened the buds really started bulking up. Guess this is when the extra MKP might help?

Nute burn perphaps?

@patrick1960 my meph pink PanamaxChemdogging getting close

The Chemdog looks like fire :+1:. As for apple fritter it could be from nutes or lack there of. I can’t read deficiencies all that well , but I would peak at the output ppms . You are pushing the lights a bit I see, maybe a few things.

It’s good practice to check your runoff when using synthetic nutes. That will give you a better idea of whether the root zone is high or low and how to time feed. It doesn’t look like burn to me. Do you add anything for calcium?

@Gl1tch No calcium. Will do check tomorrow when done feeding and clean my trays.

Any recommendations on calcium bulk/cheap I can keep around and mix for both a foliar and a top watering?

I just used GH calimagic, but cheap in bulk it is not. Often times it can also be a symptom of poor soil PH.

Update. Got my apple fritter auto looking better I suppose, but the damage is left.

@patrick1960 I turned my lights away down. Helped a lot. I was cooking the top half of the plant. Had to tie buds up to bamboo.

@Gl1tch I cleaned my platters and tried to measure EC, but I’m going to figure out a more efficient way of doing this.

The blueberry passion auto from rocbud smells exactly like blueberry. Until I get some. MKP for flowerboost I feel like buds lacked girth. Maybe a result of several things including inexperience.

And my rocbud freebie been topped and taking some LST

I harvested the pink PanamaxChemdogging.

The plants look great and I like the training on the topped freebie. Looks professional :+1:. I zoomed in on how you tied down the fritter, 10 points for creativity.

Tent pins from Amazon work great for early training :love_you_gesture:

I keep seeing people recommend staples and tent stakes alone and all I can think is what the heck am I doing wrong. I have tried using both many times and every time I do my plant yanks them out of the ground within a day or two. I have to attach tie wire to the stake and drive it all the way below the surface of the soil. What length stakes are you using? Maybe mine are just to short?

Ill give them a shot on my new up and comers if they look healthy and handle topping well. Might even have some in an old tent in shed. I do like that style of LST.

So if I run this stlye of lst is it a good set up for photos on a net?

@Gl1tch I’m also a bit apprehensive about pulling plant out. As each grow goes I’m starting to feel a bit more comfortable manhandling.

I didn’t mean the plant gets pulled out. I bend twist and train all my plants. The plant stands back up and pulls the stakes an staples out of the soil.

Just to Damm bionic. Maybe the soil to loose. I’m going to try it, but if I see anything going south going to regroup.
