A rookie mistake leads to a good problem

I recently killed a few seeds by overwatering them. In the process, I germinated more seeds to fill my 3’ x 3’ tent. Now, I have ten seedlings in my 3’ x 3’. My light is more than adequate for the task, but real estate is an issue. Thus far, two seedlings have been transplanted into 3-gallon fabric pots. What can I do with the rest? Should I use smaller pots? Should I put two plants in 3-gallon pots? Other options? I can gift them to other growers if needed, but I hope to keep them and make my tent a jungle for the next several weeks.

WOW, 10 plants in a 3X3 in my opinion will never come out successful. I did nine in a 4x4 and it was incredibly difficult. Memory serves I ended up with 3 monsters, three midgets, and three average size Auto flowers.

There’s a couple of options not the best options but options nonetheless in my opinion…

A You can try them out in 2 gallon pots and pray for a few average size and maybe one or two midgets and the rest normal.

B it would be cramped but, you could keep five of the biggest ones in 3 gallon pots and get away with a nice yielding grow.

C get yourself another cheaper to light that would still work for flowering (there’s lots of them out there) and put some in a closet grow.

10 healthy plants in a 3X3 is going to seriously deprive all of them.

I wish you the best brother!

Thank you, @Lostgirl !! I appreciate your input and advice!

I’ll wait and see who the most vigorous plants are and think out the population when the time comes.

This is going to be like Sophie’s Choice.

That’s exactly what I would do. Wait for the litter to mature and pick the cream of the crop :seedling:

@Lostgirl — Now I need to go back and read your grow journal again to determine what I need to correct on this grow to start realizing yields like you achieve!

From the start, my RH has been adjusted to optimal levels. That has made for a strong start with all of my ladies.

Yah, dialing in your environment at the beginning is crucial for the early development of the girls. Keeping your environment down in is one of the biggest factors in the growth.

It’s good that you got the RH figured out most people struggle with that. The heat is very simple. You can buy one of those $35 ceramic heaters that has a thermostat and set it to your desired heat and that’s it. Heat I find is the easiest thing to accommodate.

We are approaching spring and summer so then you need to look at cooling which was always my most challenging obstacle. I figured out I could hillbilly attach a 4-in duct pipe to a window air condition units vent and blow the cold air through the 4-in pipe straight to the tent.

It looks ghetto as shit but it works perfectly. :joy:. It’s all about thinking way outside the box :love_you_gesture:

From this hillbilly setup I can get my tent as low as 63°

I love your DIY attitude, @Lostgirl! There’s nothing wrong with a Hill Billy setup, so long as it works!!

I moved my plants into my mechanical room, which gave me more control over the environmental conditions. I hope that this will change my growing fortunes.

Well if they were clones, you could run them all since they be mature and do a sea of green (sog). But since they are seedlings you are sol. Id roll the dice and pick the best 4. Reality is you never know whats best to pick until flower. Good luck on your tough decision. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I strongly suggest 1 gallons, and running completely on a 12/12 light schedule, start to finish. I’ve had 6 plants in a 3x3 and it was a mega pain it the butt keeping them all happy. You can still run them like a SOG, but there will be growth variations given they aren’t clones.

Thanks for the input, @Borderryan22 !!!

I can see why that would be a beast to manage. You’d go 12/12 even with autos?

Good luck if do them all at once, they wont flower until mature. 12/12 or not

From my exp, they just don’t grow quite as big. Just as potent, and I’ve pulled some fat buds on 12/12 from autos. They still flower when they are ready, maybe a little quicker, but just not as big.

Some options to ponder. Thank you both!

For my last run I ran 18/6 which worked nicely.

The bummer is that I forgot that having more than eight plants is illegal. I’m set to give a few away to friends.
