A question about the growth of northern lights plants

I won’t grow with anything else unless there is some hard evidence about something else. I’ve been learning about COB lighting also.

im far less concerned. anecdotal evidence is fine with me as long as i trust the source

i want to get your guys opinions on this since i don’t want to purchase another light and waste some more money (broke college student problems lol) and im still fairly new on understanding the wattage and what i should be looking for in lights.

would this be a good light? I am planning to grow just 1 plant at a time, would have liked to do 2 but doing just 1 is no prob!

Btw after just 1 day of adjusting the pH to close to where it should be, she grew a full inch and the new leaves are a very nice dark green color. I shall never again underestimate pH lol

It would work for 1 plant. If you plan to do two I would look at bigger. But it’s a great light for the money.

would you say its the best light i could get for 1 plant? Assuming im not trying to spend more than $150 without shipping

That’s a tough one. You could build a light and get slightly better. But buying I think if you get it in 3000k it would be far better than any of the cheap led lights. And it would work from seed to harvest.

best light for the money. maybe best light at any price

Yup pound for pound. Hands down (aside from the pH meter) the best investment you can make in budget growing right now.

O genetics… all 3 like 1a, 1b, and 1c

Sorry to bother but i have one last question! I just received my fox farm soil and wanted to know if that was good enough as it is or if i should look to add some type of feed to the plant since its already grown. any suggestions or shall that soil and monitoring the pH be just fine? Thanks!

From the plant at the top? If you plan on vegging her a bit longer (4 weeks ish ive heard maybe longer) the ffof will be good enough to veg her thru, just straight pH’d water. But for flower you will need some kind of bloom nute.

O and by all means! Ask away. Better to ask now and get nice solid answers then spend money and ask later to find out u coulda saved a few bucks.

that is true, better to ask now and save some and have a better grow. Yeah its for the plant at the top. awesome ill make sure to transplant her today and let her stay in veg state for a few more weeks. Any recommendations for bloom nutrients that i should use that is good for fox farm and the strain northern lights?

also regarding transplanting i have never transplanted while changing the soil so i usually just take the plant and make a hole in a bigger pot with some soil place it in the middle and then cover up the rest. since i am changing the soil, would it be a bad idea to just “plop” the plant out of the pot with the soil its currently in and just place it into the new pot with fox farm? or should i try to remove the soil that i have now before transplanting ?

@PurpNGold74

You can run a bit of water through the root ball and GENTLY try to rinse some of the dirt off. Just be as gentle as possible.

And im not the best advice on nutes… i believe @raustin or @blackthumbbetty or @Covertgrower or @Redeyedranger (yup your in that class now bro :facepunch:t5:) would be invaluably more help in that regards.

Using ffof soil. Wanted bloom nutes recommendations. Also askd if grow nutes would be necessary. Since going in ocean farms, i said probably not.

The only think I would maybe add to the soil is some extra perite. It’s not necessary but wouldn’t hurt. Please ask! We like to help.

If you’re using Foxfarm soil, then I would recommend using Foxfarm nutes. Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom are two good bloom nutes.
