A Casual Winter Grow (of veggies)

This is what got us started growing weed. Here in the great northern tundra of Minnesota we turned part of a shop area into a grow room for veggies all winter. Use aerogardens for spices like basil, thyme, rosemary, dill, sage, and pots for peppers, tomatoes, beans. One day mama asked why aren’t we growing weed and :man_facepalming:.

I blame not growing weed on the weed.

Just out of curiosity, how do you go about pollination? Using a fan inside your tent?

I use a paintbrush lol…just a modern day Picasso

Bell pepper and tomato plants are capable of self pollination.

True! I still like to play artist :artist:

I would have thought that homegrown tomatoes would taste better that store bought. They are horrible tasting. I’m going to pull the tomato plants today so I don’t have to water them any more. We’ll see how the peppers turn out in a couple of weeks.

Hey @MidwestGuy how’s the garden going? Did you aim for specific tomato variety? I kinda want to get into this but usually when we do tomatoes we grow them straight up 10-12’ would love to do greens, herbs, sweet and spicy peppers, and tomato’s

I took the tomato plants down today. I ate a half-dozen of them and they just didn’t taste good. The dill, basil, and cilantro were overgrown and flowering, so I threw those out as well. All that is left are bell pepper plants that are fruiting now and should be ready in a couple of weeks.

Was it just the variety of tomato or do you think something else at play? Is there a light schedule to keep herbs from bolting?
