Herb (spice) Grow

I’m traveling too much this Summer to have a weed grow, so I’ll grow herbs instead and if they die they die.

Dill for salmon and tzatziki, basil for pesto and tomato based sauces, and cilantro for Southwestern dishes. Yum!

For some reason I really can’t stand basil, I’ve tried and tried.
But the other 2 ya got there, yes sir.
That ziki sauce is bomb, so you use it salmon???

I’ve used tzatziki sauce with grilled meats, but never with salmon. It would probably be pretty good.

Tzatziki is pretty easy to make, but you do have to be sure to use Greek yogurt and to squeeze out all the water from the shredded cucumber or you’ll end up with a runny sauce.

I keep my ass out the kitchen, I can’t stand the heat :cowboy_hat_face:
My woman makes a great ziki sauce, she introduced me to it years ago.
I wasn’t a big food explorer before I got with her. To me burgers was a well rounded meal. Bread, meat and veggies :pensive:
But now with her I eat all kinds of things.
Big yes sir on the Greek yogurt. We have been using that for years instead of sour cream. And we lived a couple miles from one of the biggest sour cream makers.
Getcha a dollup :hugs:

I use to work on the owners bikes and he would always tell me to come see him and the restaurant :cowboy_hat_face:
Now I’m thinking the margaritas across the street from there :hugs:

lol. My exes dad would eat nothing but hamburgers and canned green beans. He has done so for decades. You would think he would have “nutrient deficiencies.”

After years with my ole lady I / we can’t eat fast food burgers now. Makes use both feel pretty damn bad. Bad enough I won’t do it. Odd to me cuz I use to have a cast iron gut. She says it’s because my body isn’t use to that crap anymore and wants it out.

I did bodybuilding in my 30s and 40s and ate very clean, especially when I was cutting weight. No insulin spiking sugars of any type, even pastas and bread. All of the carbs I got were from fruit, brown rice, or sweet potato. If I did happen to eat pasta or bread I would feel like crap for a couple of days. High fructose corn syrup is the absolute worst, and food makers use a lot of it, even in canned veggies. I got canned beets for a Mediterranean platter last week and it had HFCS in it. I could taste it and threw that crap out. It was nasty. When you eat so clean even pineapple is too sweet.

I also grow herbs in the tent when there is room. Sometimes just start them in March to get them well along for spring. We have a patch of oregano that has been in ground for like 10 years. Comes back every year. Fresh oregano is wonderful.
Don’t know if they still do it and you might have had these, San Diego Pier Café in Seaport Village made an Oregano Shrimp wrapped in prosciutto. The cheeses were mixed with a LOT of fresh oregano. We use the stuff we grow to duplicate it. You can hurt yourself with these. The wife and I would always plan to go there just for those.
I looked and don’t see them on the menu any longer. Too bad.
