A case of..... "The Claw"?

Noticed tips are clawing down a little. No yellow. Confused as it may be a sign of too much nitrogen? Fan too high? Light was too strong @ 400PPFD? All of the above?

Organic soil. Ocean forest on bottom. Don’t use fertilizer. Yesterday added a little cal-mag to water, fed plants. Cal mag is 2-0-0? Maybe the culprit?

Clawing is typically in my experience either nitrogen toxicity or overwatering.

Light problems show up as tacoing or sometimes bleached leaves. Crispy or even rolling over.

It’s weird because my soil is dry B4 I water. I noticed the tent was hotter than normal was around 83F when it’s usually 78F. It’s because I raised lighting power to 400PPFD.

I’m no expert but I’m starting to think it may be heat stress. I just raised light again, now back to 78F. I also raised the rh to 65%. I won’t water again till soil is dry and I confirm with soil moisture meter. I always use meter after I lift pots to confirm dryness.

As for excessive nitrogen, I can’t see ocean forest being too strong for these plants at this stage unless I’m wrong. I don’t add fertilizer.

I just experienced this.I turned the light down one click and raised it to about 18”.Also I water a little more.Im not sure what solves it but I’m inclined to think moving the light up was it.Hope this helps. My plants were quick to recover.

Thanks @Mateo . I was @ 400PPFD, just lowered it to 330. I also lowered my fan from the top of canopy to the fabric pots, so now the fan is hitting the pots, just in case it’s too saturated. Will see how they respond.

Dont worry. That really is not a problem. When the tips burn, or the claw and canoe, thats the real toxicity. Direct fan can cause as well. As long as it does not get worse, keep cruising.
