8th Week in flower - time to dial down?

This is my second grow and I’m interested in some suggestions regarding the last couple weeks of flower. I’m currently in the beginning of week 8.

  • is there a benefit of the lights being dialed down a bit over the last 1-2 weeks? Currently running high 900’s in ppfd.

  • I’m currently using Jacks in Soil, would you recommend stopping of tapering off feeding 1-2 weeks before harvest?

  • is there a benefit of reducing the lights on from 12-12 down to 10-14 or 11-13?

One issue since it’s spring/summer is I am not able to keep the lights on temperature below 79 deg, so I am not seeing any of the purple or other leaf changes.

Look forward to all replies.

these look good! I’ve been growing for 5-8 years now ( though I’m far from a pro) and I’m a cultivation tech.

I’ve never really ramped my light down at the last 2 weeks but I always try and flush my plants using plain water ( Though it is debated ). I’ve harvested plants without flushing and they’ve been good also. I have turned my lights off 2 days before harvesting as there are growers that say it’ll increase trichome production before you chop them.

I would say you should defoliate alittle more to prevent any excess moisture from the leaves transpiring and lack of airflow that could cause bud rot. Leaves that overlap eachother tend to have built up moisture between them. but also its the last week so maybe just wait till harvest and do it sooner next time.

All in all id say at the last week you pretty much have close to your end product already and id just keep an eye on the trichome colors.

I don’t do any of the Bro Science stuff…Flushing, 48 hour dark period before chop etc. My last 2 weeks is maintaining 35 DLI, 12/12 on the light, 35-40% RH / 65°-70° F and once I am pretty close and actually set the date, I do not water for 4 days prior to the chop. Bud Wash and Standard Dry and Cure procedures.

I keep monitoring pH and feed her with normal watering practices the last few weeks.

I will dial the intensity down a tad the last cohple of weeks to mimic fall weather, but haven’t done total lights out for extended periods. I believe @Low just finished up a grow doing an extra 48hrs of light the last 2 days. It honestly makes more sense. The buds need light to keep producing, but 2 days isn’t enough time to herm.

Hey there, so I actually didn’t follow through with that. After hearing @RightAway mention he didn’t see a difference doing 48 hours light over his large garden I decided against it. He runs twice the space that I do so I figured that was a good enough reason to not bother. :call_me_hand:t3: if my timer was more accessible I probably would have just to see first hand.
