All Ive ever grown was photos, but I’m going to grow autos on the next grow. Fastbud seeds, Gorilla Cookies, Wedding Cheesecake, and Blue Dream.
Last week I upgraded my HID from 600-1000w, both bulb and dimmable ballast.
A few auto growers have told me to begin the germination to veg cycle using the 600w. Then when the plants are ready to go into flower, switch to a 1000w bulb. The theory being the intensity of a 1000w MH will seal the deal in producing solid, trichrome glistening buds.
Thoughts?
Size of light you use has more to do with area you’re trying to cover. You can/should use roughly the same light for autos as photos generally speaking.
I was always taught MH was only for veg.
HPS was for flowering, or if only using one light.
I’m sure MH would flower, but maybe not optimal.
At least that’s what the old wisdom that I remember says…
I keep mine on full blast and adjust the height. I’ve grown fast buds gorilla cookies and both plants ( grown at different times ) looked identical. Very frosty. Even the larger fan leaves and stems were covered in tricombs. Happy growing.
