Very nice!
The photo above is a Gold Leaf
@Painfree I sprout my seeds under a 125w florescent bulb. Once they sprout, I leave them in the humidity dome under this same light for 7 days. Light is on 24/7. At this point I put them in there forever home and use 6/2 for veg with ABSOLUTELY no problems. [quote=“Painfree, post:48, topic:28910”]
could I start at anytime

The first time I did it, I was already half way through veg. No problems
@Bubblehead did you try the 6/2 light schedule? @merlin44 @Grandaddy013 wondering as about trying this on my photos.
Photos are all I grow
It works great on photos. Ran this schedule on the last four I grew. And they flowered faster after going directly to 12/12 than the ones on 18/6
Has anyone tried going 6/6 for flower?
You need 12 hours of continuous darkness for flower.
I did try this on my last grow. I wasn’t t too impressed. Of course I experimented with a few things the last time, so I’m not sure that it was only the light cycle that hurt my yield. Still, I’m not sure I would do it again.
@BobbyDigital @peachfuzz might give this a go. Heat is a non issue for me but if it accelerates veg growth that would be worth it. Still thinking about it. Did 24hr last grow during veg so this is a big change.
If you can get them to veg faster and shorten your veg time, it may be worth it.
say you are vegging for 6 weeks and can lower to 5 weeks because they grew more tops faster.
I didn’t really notice accelerated veg growth but the plant never looked worn out like on 18/6.
Edit: looking back at my time stamps, I take that back. They actually vegged 2 weeks less than last time
I think the longest lights on I will go is 18. I believe the plants need some dark time.
Well for this run I’m vegging my plants with the candle stick method…
Lights on at 6 pm and off at 6 am and on again at 11 am and off at 1 pm…
Plants are super healthy and when I throw them into flower they shouldn’t skip a beat…
Hi all. I’m new to the forum. Been growing some Northern Lights autos all summer outdoors and had lots of fun doing it. I’m getting ready to start my first indoor tent grow. Got a 5 X 5 tent on the way and a nice led light to fill the space. This thread caught my eye on the 6 X 2 lighting schedule. Sounds interesting and I’d like to try it when I get up and running. I have a question… Can you recommend a good timer to control the lights using this lighting schedule? I know nothing about timers, so I’d be grateful if any of you would care to enlighten me. Thanks and happy growing!
Salutations MViker2575,
Welcome to your new home where further fun-sharing certainly awaits ahead!
Not to mention that honest photo sessions alone suffice to keep a man busy after he’s done with more basic duties…
Sorry about having more questions than answers but i often happen to feel curious about non-conforming ideas i guess, especially aspects of non-standard days, and of course the matter of finding suitable timers if any (!):
This was about “smart meters” detecting the crystal-precision (metronome) signature of indoor gardens but it also raised interrogations relative to how much light/dark is actually required for a plant’s pumping cycle(s) to remain healthy. No doubt there’s a lot of conservatism to be expected but i yet have to find stories providing details over truly observed tradeoffs instead. Which won’t be of much comfort considering i can only regret not being able to offer clues myself. M’well, at least in a future i can foresee…
Anyway simple intuition tells me 2 hours darkness sounds a bit remote from the old GLR schedule, if not extreme (?), so perhaps you may want to consider something less radical in preliminary explorative experiments. In any case i find hard to believe so few people ever wondered about similar interrogations, hence i wish you luck following your own instincts as it might come with rewarding lessons too.
Good day, have fun!!
a TECO SG1 series programmable relay would be a perfect solution for implementing complex or non-traditional light schedules. factorymation.com is a supplier for these relays.
Thanks for the simple, direct answer. lol
The stuff in your link is a bit more industrial than I’m aiming for. Is there just a simple timer you can plug into an outlet, then plug the light into? I’ve seen dial timers with the push in pins, but they aren’t getting a lot of kind words for reliability. Others don’t seem to say if they can do more than one lighting cycle within a day. Just wondering if you more experienced folks might have found better solutions.
I use one similar to this one, don’t know for sure what it is because it was given to me, but works perfectly

Thanks DMD. I actually saw the one you mentioned in the store. I ended up with a dial mechanical timer with the pins. Bought it just to see how itt worked and I think it will do fine. Setting the time seems to be a challenge. You can’t set it at the correct time easily, but get in the ballpark, then set the schedule and it seemed to do a fine job. I’m not concerned about the time, more for the on off intervals that it can be set to, so I’m going to roll with that. At least for now. Thanks for the info though!
Those work good too, they are just hard to dial in…
