5 gal cloth pots for outdoor grow

I will be grow autos outdoors in 5 gal cloth pots. I’m growing in pots so I can move them around to optimize the amount of sun the plants will receive. If I don’t the plants will not receive more then 4-5 hours of sun. My question is can I let the pots sit directly on the lawn or should I put the plants on something to get them up off the ground? Does it matter? Thanks in advance.

The fabric pots are good because the air prune the roots. Putting them directly on the ground could allow the roots to grow through the bottom into the ground. I would put them on something.
Autos can get really big outdoor. I was really surprised how big my WW autos got.

Placing cloth pots directly in the ground will allow them to capillary feed which means they will send feeder roots threw pot to soil below
If your planning on moving them around it shouldn’t matter they won’t be in one place long enough to allow roots to grow strong enough to hold pot down

@shindig153 gave good advice place the pots on a few bricks or similar item and raise them off the ground

I use cloth pots outdoors all the time you may want to concider using pots 10 gal or larger for out door grows with a long veg cycle plants can get large just a thought for photo beans for autos 5 gal is a good size

Up off the ground so you can collect runoff to test PH levels. I had mine on pallets.
