Growing 5 of same strain with 5 different nutrients. Just running a little experiment. I don’t know if I am going to try and address deficiencies or just run the nutrients exactly as scheduled to see what is “best”. Using Fox Farm Happy Frog soil.
Nutrients being used left to right.
RAW NPK(blue), Dr. Earth(yellow), Gaia Green(green), General Hydroponics(red), Fox Farm(white).
I am doing everything as similarly as possible to the plants. I really hoping I don’t run into any problems and the experiment plays out.
Sounds interesting. I get tired mixing up 2 gallons of Jacks. Thats a lot of mixing. Plants look good though. You might even notify the nute manufacturers? They might like to see the side by side?
a good experiment to do growmie… all your christmas trees look healthy … keep up the thread for us …
After you said it I couldn’t unsee it so here ya go, Good morning Growmies
@Austin127 they look good and I think that’s a cool experiment you’re doing
definitely a good way to get a different phenotype to come out of each one of them
Nice one…
If this goes well would love for you to add other lines to the mix like cropalt and floraflex etc. Heck i would donate nutes for the cause . Could consider using clones from same mother
It’s a lot of mix and measuring and a lot to keep track of. Probably in over my head lol this is only my second grow. Just removed some leaves from lowest two branches. These are the problems that each plant has thus far. Gaia green looks like best so far. With ease and plant health. So any ideas on what’s wrong with each plant please let me know.
Blue(Raw NPK)
Red(General Hydroponics)
White(Fox Farm)
Green(Gaia Green)
Yellow(Dr. Earth)
- accidentally broke top off of yellow plant.
So far Gaia green and fox farm appear to be doing the best. Dry amendments so much easier for feeding. Fox farm is easier to mix of the three liquid nutrients. Raw NPK is my least favorite.
Just know this…..If you grow 5 different plants from seed you’re going to get different results, even if they’re the same strain.
All of the nutrient lines essentially provide the exact same thing. Some have a lot more to mix and deal with than others but at the end of the day, it’s all the same to the plants.
Personally, I think you’d be better off to use this grow as a way to figure out which one of these lines you prefer dealing with then get that line dialed in over your next few grows.

Well yeah pretty much the entire point of this is so I can find out which I like best. This is just my second grow. My first grow was all fox farm nutrients, every plant reacted the same and were pretty much identical their entire way from seed to smoke. All lines might give generally the same stuff but at the end of the day they are still different lines and plants will react differently
They are different but they all supply the same nutrients to the plant
That’s not true at all. Each line I have offer different micros and macros. Some have microbes and enzymes built into the lines like NPK. Some offer way more sugars at the end compared to others. Plus where the nutrients are sourced from matters.
I think you missed my point..,
All of these nutrient lines will grow a healthy plant if utilized properly. So what I was trying to say was to use this experiment as a way to figure out which one you prefer using, not which one is better than the other. Once you settle on a line, get it dialed in. Then you won’t have deficiencies
And I think you missed my point. Is ‘Properly’ the same thing as following the directions. I’m following the recommended feeding to see which is best and doesn’t lead to deficiencies without dialing in. I get that ‘all nutrients feed plants’ blah blah. But if you can’t understand what I’m saying or doing then idk
I’ve found all of them need adjusting from what the manufacturer recommends but you’re on your second grow. Sorry I chimed in. Good luck with your experiment
I do love the experimenting part of you doing this. Just because I use it, I would have liked seeing the Masterblend series of nutrients too. But that’s just me. I will agree with an earlier comment that you can have 5 seeds from the same batch all using the same nutrients, and have there be derivation from each other. That said, I think that it’s great that you are doing this to find out what works best for you and your grow style. I’m lucky enough to be involved in the Community Grow #2 for outside plants. We are doing Godfather OG Feminized Photos. I am doing two in 10-gallon fabric bags. One will be getting my usual Masterblend 3-part formula and the other I will be trying the new CX Horticulture line of nutrients. Just remember that in order to really justify your results, you need to run the experiment several times to help rule out anomalies. And keep a journal of it to document what works. Best of luck on the grow, I’ll follow along.
