I transplanted my gals yesterday from 1 gallon to 5 gallon cloth pots. We put them in a new tent for first time under new lights . The space is 4×8 and 8 feet tall i believe. The lights are spider farmer sf4000 x 2. Soil id ffof. All phototype. 2 white widow, 3 jack here, 3 power plant. This morning i watered then until runnoff, as soil was just moist in transplanting. The height of lights was 24 inches. Temp and rh is on target in tent. After watering, i went back and saw on my ww these almost gold colored dots covering a few fan leaves. See pictures. I moved the light a bit higher. What is this???! Is it water burn on leaves? Also, the water was coldish. Not room temp. Could that be a problem? This is my 2nd grow, so i am new to this
Thank you in advance! 20210125_095555|375x500
As I can see some water on the leaves, pretty easy to assume it’s sunburnt. Only get water on leaves when they are in dark cycle.
I think you answered your own question, I think it’s the water on the leaves it acts like a magnifying glass. Nothing should be sprayed on your plants while lights are on, with one exception that I know of and that is milk. 24 inches is probably close for this youngin unless you have it dimmed way down, I have the sf2000 and I keep them around 30" at 60-70 % of course if your plants start to stretch just lower it or increase the power. All plants are a little different on how much light they will take I’m fighting with some blue dream that just doesn’t like lights smh
Thanks for your reply. Poor leaves! Should i just let the affected leaves be, or clip em? My 3 power plants are super droopy, so they must be stressed from the light output as well. You dim the lights by 30-60%? Do you ever go full light output? I will raise to around 60 inches as you mentioned and dim the lights. How to know when to increase again? Very strong lights!!! Indeed!
Thank you, i would spray the leaves sometimes in my 3x3 tent when all the gals were in the 1 gallon pots. They did fine, but that light must be much less powerful than what we just bought and are using. I will raise the lights and dim them.
No It’s 30 inches and 60-70% for at least another week and then I set mine between 70-80% at 26 inches for the remainder of veg. After you switch to 12s they will start to stretch and I’ll slowly allow them to get to about 18" and then start increasing the power again until 100% towards the very end I might try to drop em down to 15" but watch closely especially sativas they like to foxtail. Oh and I just remembered you have the 4000 so 18 would definitely be the lowest I would go until you know the light better and maybe keep it a little higher than I said I do it’s not much but the 4000 i believe is 50w more than two 2000 so it’s gonna be stronger 4sure. The first signs of light burn is the leaves on top will taco and or bleach
Got it. Ty for clarification
MeEasy, i brought the lights today to 30" above canopy. My husband increased lights by 10, that is from 40% to 50%. I feel that was too dramatic increase. How much would you increase light intensity as you play around? A infared heat gun read the tips of plants at around 74. I guess you do not want it to read past 85, and that is why he turned the light dimmer up. Would you just do a few degrees at a time? I feel that is most gentle for the plants. Otherwise heat and humidity in temp is optimal. A nice mediteranian environment. I hope my question was clear.
Just watch em some plants won’t even blink others will, the first sign is the top leaves will fold up length wise or taco is what it’s called. So if you see em start to taco back off the light
