Thanks. What are your thoughts on a 16/12 light cycle? Id love your feedback.
Whoops. I think i did a general reply rather than directly to you.
Its easier than you would think. You have a fluctuating schedule, but there is a lot more hours of light to be able to work on them. On Saturdays i have lights on for 16 hours (8am to midnight).
Check out the concentration of trichomes on some of these flowers.

Happy Anniversary
Is it my anniversary?
Yes
The GSC’s seem to be flushing with white pistils again. This method really does some weird things. The other 2 plants are nothing but white pistils. Almost 11 weeks into flower and still working on filling out. Its equivalent to 6 or 7 weeks into flower. If these do fill out, it will be like one 3 foot by 5 foot bud.
Ok guys. Even though there are new white pistils on the GSC’s, i believe they have just about run their course. I am starting the flush on this girl. I think i am starting to see some amber trichomes. Maybe 1% of them, but i think a lot will happen in 1 to 2 weeks. I think a quart jar will be about 1.5 ounces of this stuff. I feel pretty certain that i can easily fill 4 or 5 jars with them, and 6 ounces was the top of what was expected of them. If 5 branches would fill a jar, then i think i might get 6 jars. That could be up to 9 ounces. I could not possibly complain about that. Plus getting that plant out will give me a lot of space. So lets hope for one last push of the plant. Just a little more swelling and most of the top buds will be the size of baseballs. From what i have seen, that is pretty extra-ordinary for photo Girl Scout Cookies.
Plus i am renaming my Grape Ape. Its smell is different from the other 2 seeds i had of Grape Ape. Those both smelled really grapey. This one smells more skunky with a little grape. So now im calling this one Drunk Skunk. Oh sure, its still Grape Ape, but its just a name right?
That seems more fitting for the Bay 11s. I was still trying to include the grapey smell with it, so its like a skunk that has had too much wine. So i was connecting the wine with the grape, hence Drunk Skunk. But the Bay 11’s are more skunky too now, so i’d say skunky monkey fits that one, so let it be so.
So we are at week 11 of flower now. To say these girls are taking their time would be the understatement of all understatements. I have officially started the flush of the GSC’s. They are still swelling i think. The top buds are getting real close to the size of baseballs. I put a picture of the jar they are going into next to one. There are still nothing but white pistils on the Drunk Skunk and the Skunky Monkey, which has very leafy buds. But the hairs are starting to peak out now.
Overall pic
Then here are the GSC’S
I am such a contrarian, but i have a lot of issues with a lot of conventional wisdom. For example, why do they say that terpenes are preserved with lower humidity? Vapor is like pressure. High pressure always moves into low pressure through osmosis. The same happens with vapor. When there is low vapor, it makes it easier for things to evaporate. And the lower buds that are deeper into the canopy, where the more humid microclimates exist, always seem to be so much stickier and smellier. I mean its kind of impossible to have high humidity and not have a high risk of bud rot. Maybe its just the rantings of a lunatic mind.
Well shit! I guess i didnt look at the trichomes close enough on the GSC’s. I shoot for 10% amber, but i got a close look at them, and they look to be closer to 50% amber. Now they might just be sleeping pills. This plant has to come down tonight.
Can you get a pic through your jewlers loupe posted here? It would be interesting to see what it looks like with 50% amber.
So im formulating a theory on this. Maybe 16/12 is closer to a sativa’s light schedule. So in hybrids, it will bring out the sativa side of a plant, however much might be in it. Girl Scout Cookies are mostly indica, so 11 weeks is how long indicas can take in 16/12. 11 weeks of 16/12 is 66 “days” in this cycle. That is around 9 weeks of 12/12 when you look at actual days. So this would almost assume that flower is dictated by days more than actual time. Or there are those people that start the time of flowering by when real flowers come in. If that is the case, then 16/12 actually sped up flowering time. I feel that my yield will excede the normal yield for GSC. If this is the case, i would think it would be good news for growers. You could then increase your yield with a reduced amount of time. This is what i originally hoped for. That would put a sativa at around 16 weeks from flip. Ive got 4 1/2 weeks to find out. In some ways, this is depressing. Yet, in other ways, its kind of exciting. The idea of slowing the process had a lot of advantages. But the idea of speeding it up and increasing yield would be a bit of a breakthrough too. Either way, its seeming that anything more than 40% sativa will give it a sativa schedule. Less than that, may give it an indica schedule.
Its in the dark right now. I have one hour of light to water it tonight before i have to work. I will try to get a pic.
