I do I think the the enclosed space attracts the moths where there’s less predators. The moths get in there and can’t figure out how to get out so they lay eggs. I think it’s the night time humidity in there that makes them want to lay eggs properly the perfect environment for their worm babies. Just a theory. I’ll continue to make adjustments and stay vigil. With the amount of bud I’ve got growing I can afford to clip off a few buds but it still pisses me off and makes me sad. It’s getting close on LA CONFIDENTIAL #2 she is about 2 weeks ahead of the others and the Black Widow in the 5x10 probably next after that. I’m fighting my way to the finish line.
I always hang a couple strips of fly paper around my outdoor plants. They aren’t specific to any one pest, but they do snag quite a few bugs of all types.
October can’t come soon enough. It’s been way more stressful this year than I anticipated with the grasshoppers, monsoons, mold and now worms. Next stress test will be drying without over drying.
So I just broke out my loupe and checked trichomes. LA confidential #2 looks about 2 weeks out I think. Nearly all the pistils are brown and receding into the calyx’s the trichomes are mostly clear with some cloudy and a few amber. Giggles looks closer with all pistils brown and receded. Trichomes are mostly cloudy with some clear and some amber but I’m still gonna try to give her 2 weeks before I make any decisions.
Good. I spent some time in there today tieing buds and defoleing a bunch of leaves. I’m not seeing brown hairs yet. I checked every plant today and nobody is showing sign. I’m gonna feed with some jacks and cal-mag one more time. How’s the catapiller war front lookin?
This is the microscope I got it a couple of months ago today was the first time I used it. It’s pretty easy to use but comes with a stand that’s kind of flimsy. It will do the job though
Nice looking buds @plumbdand. This is my first outdoor grow. I never anticipated how challenging this would be, but I’m pumped! I haven’t killed my plants and the worms didn’t get all the buds in the CBD plant.
I’m not seeing amber trichs yet but I’m looking. How can you tell when you’re about two weeks out?
I usually can tell by how the pistils look and the trichomes I like about 30% amber but always take some a little earlier to have some weed that’s gonna get me motivated. For the most part I’m looking for pain relief and sleep aid so I wait for trichomes to be 30% to 40% amber depending on how the buds look and feel also
My pistils are mostly white just a few amber trichs, I guess I’m still a ways away. With the weather, pest and nutrient issues, I’m glad to have something to harvest.
