Question (I know you may have an answer, even if ya make it up): what happens to your dwc if you lose power? You have a work around? Besides generator…hah. ice cubes maybe? I used to do that with my goldfish years ago.
I havent lost power for a significant amount of time but if it ever happens, my biggest concern is getting O2 to the roots. I would likely run a line to my generator to at least keep the air pump running. If it was going to be several days, I would hook the lights and exhaust fan to a generator as well. Other than a generator, theres enough O2 trapped in ice that it may work to at least keep the plant from drowning, for a day or two.
Thanks. We tend to lose power around here in the winter for 5-6 hours at a whack. Wasn’t sure if lack of O² for that long would cause a problem.
I would think 5-6 hours should be ok as long as its not a daily thing. I dont recommend this, but I left one of my air lines turned off for about 2 days once. Other than a slimey nute solution, the plant didint seem effected by it and grew normally.
