Hi all - thank you in advance. I started my first plants on x-mas day. Now I’m not sure if I’m going to run out of room in the tent so I’m not sure what to do. I planned to top one more time for more yield, but I’m not sure I should. I’m not sure taking off a bunch of leaves was the right call either… I have another net that can go up and about 31/2’ of vertical space. You all can let me know the good bad and hopefully no ugly
Indoor - 2x4x8 in a 5x5.5x8.5 closet
Origin of water: Tap
Origin of seeds: ILGM
Feminized: MK Ultra (largest/left) Seed in water 12/25, 1 Blue Dream (middle) Seed in water 1/1, 1 Gorilla Glue (right) Seed in water 12/25.
-Age of plant. ~10 weeks, in veg - Blue Dream One week behind.
Method: Soil
Vessels: 5 gal Smart Pots raised about 3". The MK is on the ground but the other two are raised up about 6" to make the canopy even.
PH and TDS/EC of source water: 7.1ph - not sure
PH and TDS/EC of if mixed solution. Run off was 6.4 in the 2 smaller and 8.1 in the MK yesterday.
Provided lighting: Kind x420 on 50%
Temperature; 78-88
Humidity; 65-73
Ventilation system; 4" vent pulling from below the closet door, 4" exhaust fan blows above the tent. There’s negative pressure.
Humidifier and Dehumidifier in the closet. Trying to work together to keep it stable.
No
I gave 3/4 gal. to each of them on Monday with Cal-mag. The MK was light today (and the meter said dry) so gave 4 cups of water at about 3.5ph since she was high… The next feeding was going to be with the Fox Farm trio schedule - repeating week 4. Should I flush and flip them to flower instead of topping and waiting?
If you just recently finished the topping and defoliation you’d want to wait a week or two before switching to flower. They’ll be a little shellshocked after such a tight haircut.
Nice job @SandyC! Looks like you got rid of most of the larfy nodes, I didn’t do a great job of that my first time. I like to leave a lot of the fans at those sites if I can, light hitting the floor is wasted.
I’d give em a bit more light intensity. Do you have a light meter? In my opinion, light is pretty darn important and should be measured too - we measure everything else.
Overall I think you’re in good shape, whatever you decide. If you do decide to top again (I wouldn’t), wait a week or so to flip.
Thanks folks. I had the light up and scorched them so now I’m gunshy. The canopy is about 18” from the light now. I don’t have a light meter.
The soil is Ocean Forrest and I’ve been pretty much following the FF schedule. I did a cal-mag feeding earlier in the week. I was worried that the fans were blocking other growth and got a little carried away I think.
I didn’t even think about shocking them the other way, I should have asked first. She looks great this am, there are a couple huge fans that blew up overnight. Sounds like maybe I’m best to flush them all, keep tucking, and flip in 7-10 days without topping any more. Does that make sense? If they double in size, should I add the second net?
Thanks @Highwayman420, I’ve been slightly obsessing making sure the tent was within the proper values on the vapor pressure density chart but missed this altogether. The Kind X manual says to stay 80-85 F in the tent, but juggling humidity to stay good with the VPD chart. Isn’t always so simple. Nothing you all don’t know - hahahaha …but sheesh, never realized I was so far off light values and the girls seemed to be growing ok. Anyway, I turned it up part way and can finish in a day or two unless you all think all at once is better.
I flushed them all with 4 gallons of sledgehammer between the 3 plants evenly. They are in 5-gal smart pots filled about 3/4with Ocean Forest. It’ll probably take them until Monday to dry out from that, should I give anything or do something in the meantime?
Thanks everyone. And once this gets under control, I’ll need help planning for the burst of growth!!
I would wait to flip it another week or more and slowly start upping the light power u wanna be on full power by flower time so they r getting the full potential of the light. I’m about 90% now and a week into flower bout to up it the rest of the way over the next few days. A bit at a time I would also leave all the leaves alone til about 21 days into flower or when u see the pistil turn to buttons then do a defol and lollipop of u are. Defol is def not needed right now as I see alot of the floor and soil so light is def making it thru to the plant all over. Looks nice green color tho so far doing an awesome job
Thanks @Mark0427, really appreciate it. @Highwayman420 that photone app is super helpful. So cheap compared to a handheld meter for measuring light. You’re right, everything else seems measured and then measured again
I can’t dial the light in that far (I.e. 90%) it has 4-25% increments. The app and chart should make the difference. Like I said, after scorching them, I got gunshy. What would you set for height above the net?
Ya more or less. I personally set them about 18" above canopy and then adjust the light using the app. I constantly adjust and raise the lights as needed for when they grow more.
