1st time grow journal

i’ve got a bottle of grower’s ally crop defender. you are supposed to be able to use it all the way up to harvest. some use it preventively, but mine has just collected dust since i’m not awake when lights go out and it shouldn’t be applied when the light is on (nor should any liquid).

Update. Week 2!

This is my 1st grow journal!
It’s a little out of wack as this is my first grow ever! Lol my next journal will be better I promise!

Looking good! In my opinion you can do much better on your next grow if you start them in solo cups rather than in a big final pot. I’m not a fan of watering in a small circle around the plant like that. It’s bad for the roots to run into dry soil, and it really slows down growth. Seedlings in small containers thrive, and it’s much easier on the grower when it comes to feeding/watering.

If not in small circle how?

Sorry I’m on my second grow and started 4 autos in solo cups trying to learn as much as possible

They are looking good :call_me_hand:t2:

Well personally I think it’s a lot better to not be in that situation to begin with, but if you have a seedling or very small plant in a big pot I think it’s best to water the entire pot. It will be a longer wait until you can water again, but at least the roots won’t be running into dry medium.

If you currently have autos in solo cups, here’s a link to my journal. I grow autos, and always start in cups and then transplant once into the final pots. A good amount of what you need to know is in my journal.

@Cap_Ron see I was goin to plant in the little party cups then transplant! But the little research I did said that transplanting auto will shock them and they will die or same thing will happen as far as in stunting growth! I feel I definitely should have with the purple cow indicanja soil! I think it’s dry! I just water them today but do yu see the drooping? Either underwatered or over water! Which the soil is pretty dry if yu ask me! Any opinions/suggestions!?

I’ll give you my suggestion, but it will be the complete opposite from the general consensus. I would pour slowly as to not uproot the seedling, but I’d thoroughly saturate the entire pot. Afterwards, you can use a small fan to blow on the sides of the fabric pots. That will help it dry a bit faster to shorten the time you have to wait before you can do it again. Roots make their way through the soil much faster then people give them credit for. If you let them hit dry medium, you’re basically sabotaging your own grow!
Are you using any kind of microbe or fungi products?

I am not as of right now! fish shit has microbes right? Or is that something completely different?
Also is there a ways to transplant out of this 5 gallon into a 3 gallon with a different soil? Or would that NOT be exceptional? lol

I’ve tried very hard over the last couple of years to get the word out there that it’s perfectly fine to transplant autos. There’s several threads here about it. I went through the same experience several years ago when I first switched to autos. Everything I read and everything I saw in videos told me not to transplant autos. So I started them in their final pots. I’m not going to say you can’t have good results that way, you can, but it was obvious to me that my seedlings in the big pots could never get off to the kind of great start that my photoperiod ones always did in solo cups. On my 3rd auto run, I decided to start in solo cups. The results were exactly as I expected, there was no transplant shock at all, and the plants ended up far superior to anything that I ever got starting in a big pot.
All the details of how I transplant are in my journal.

I wouldn’t try to transplant her now, that’s too risky even in my opinion, lol.

I’ve never used fish shit, there’s so many brands and options. I’ve tried several.
Photosynthesis Plus by Microbe Life Hydroponics is a good one. My seedlings absolutely thrive with it, and it’s fairly reasonably priced, comparatively speaking.

I appreciate the knowledge bro I’m starting in solo cups from now on! Yea literally every video/articles I was reading said to not transplant lol so I didn’t! But I am now!

What about bottom feeding? Yu think that would be acceptable? @Cap_Ron like right now as we speak? Cuz the soil is dry! Idnt like this purple cow living soil it seems to not have drainage at all! Like I can put a lot of water on the top of soil and it literally looks like it’s soaked in but if yu stick ur finger in the pot the top layer is wet and underneath is dry!

I’m typically not a fan of bottom feeding, but with your current situation I don’t think it’s a bad idea at all. Just make sure it goes in at the proper pH, and I’d keep adding until she can’t take in anymore. Then drain anything that’s left in the saucer so she’s not sitting in it.

@Cap_Ron
Most definitely! I think imma do that now! First imma try to slide my hand alongside of the pot and grab some soil from the bottom half and see if it’s dry like the upper! If so I’ll proceed with bottom feed PH’D to 6.5

Fuck it, I’m doing it your way with a spray bottle I put them in paper cups so they will take a bit more time to dry I guess I’ll just have to be more careful

Appreciate the advice will try it out

I did start boiling my tea today with molasses and worm castings! Yu think I should just wait till tomorrow to bottom feed with that?

I don’t think it would hurt to wait until tomorrow.
I don’t have much experience with teas. I like Advanced Nutrients whether I’m growing in soil or coco.

I’m kind of stuck because I have fish shit otw it’s supposed to be here on the 12th, lol so should I just bottom feed now with pH’d water. Wait till my fish shit gets here to start with the tea! or just do the tea tomorrow with just worm castings and molasses? Lol
@HippieRunner1
What ur thoughts too bro?

I don’t know much about tea’s, so I’m not sure how necessary the fish would be to it, but I think your best bet for right now would be to make the medium thoroughly wet, by whichever means you want. Top or bottom feeding would both accomplish the mission!
