This is my first attempt at growing weed. I am growing Wedding Cake autoflowers. I germinated the seeds a couple days ago and carefully planted the sprouted seeds with their tails straight down into containers of FFHF. My plan is to transplant them in 4 weeks into 5-gallon growbags to be placed outside in a sunny and secure location.
My only concern at the moment is whether or not my Spider Farmer SF1000D light is close enough to the seedlings. It is hanging about 12 inches from the containers. Any advice appreciated.
I remember helping a client last year set up 3 sf1000s and if my memory serves me correctly I measured like 900-950 PPFD at 14-15 inches. Obviously that’s drops very quickly in any direction other than dead center.
I’d check with the manufacturer and shoot for 150-300 PPFD
Got it. Move that light closer. Thanks for the recommendation and chart analysis. Also, I do have a dome for my 3 seedclings. Here they are all cozy and humidified.
One more question: Should I keep that light on 24/7 until the first leaves show?
I keep mine on 24/7 until they’re well established and big enough to top. Then I drop to 18/6 but I grow mostly indoors.
When you get ready to move your girls outside do it a little at a time or they will fry. So like an hour or 2 direct sunlight at 1st then indirect the rest of the day. Increase every day a bit until they can take it…
All three plants sprouted on the second day! A good start for my first grow, if I do say so myself. I’ve been spraying with filtered water 2-3 times a day, also spraying the inside of the dome. I have them in my shop with a space heater set to 70 degrees (it gets into the low 50’s at night here in the north/east and my shop has no heat). I realize the heater may lower the humidity, but I don’t want to subject them to the cold. Keeping the Spider Farmer SF2000 light on them 24/7.
How long before I stop spraying and begin watering?
Keeping the Spider Farmer SF2000 light on them 24/7.
Typo, I have a Spider Farmer SF1000D not a 2000. I’m hoping this light will get these 3 plants to a healthy stage before transplanting them into 5-gallon growbags and putting them outside in a sunny and secured area.
