1 pound plant, 600 watt LED

What’s up peeps. So im looking at some LEDs that I could grow 1 lb + plants with. Each plant will have its own light because I’m trying to maximize yield. So I know a thousand watt HPS would do the job all day every day but what about LEDs?? I’m currently looking at a 615w from the wall LED and I’m getting mixed messages on expected yield. Wanted to see what you guys thought. Is 615 enough?? Thanks for the feedback in advance!

Maybe I’m misunderstanding your question, but you won’t want 615w per plant. Many growers use an HLG 260 for a single plant. I am a light whore, so I usually run the equivalent of three HLG 135 Rspec panels per plant.

The yield you get will be based on multiple factors, though light is definitely very important. Other factors also affecting yield include good airflow, genetics, grower experience, nute levels, proper pH, and so on.

You can get that from one light per 2 plants now some Led panels unfold to cover a 5x5 or 4x4 Square grow space. But it’s a broad venue to purchase, but until you used the lights you won’t ever know quite what the lights would do base on what’s regulated and started on the light :bulb: for marketing right. I used what I call Cream to grow, which is every optimum spectrum has 4.0 umols\j for ppfd but im using a good mix of power.

No you got it brother. What I was told is I need Optimum 50 watt per square foot. Each plant will have its own 4x4 space so we’re looking at 16 sqf. Doing the math I would need 800 watts to cover that area. You see what I mean?

Also, I’ve got my grow room dialed in well. PH is always on point and I’m using organic dry fertilizers so that’s all going to be spot-on. Lights are the only thing I need to finish this puzzle

This is correct. Fifty watts per square foot of canopy is ideal. A 600 for one plant is overkill, but it’s your money.

Yeah man I feel you on that. Won’t know what you have until you try it out. I’m really on the fence with this because I know I’m about to drop some coins on these lights and I want to make it counts you know? What lights do you run?

Yeah so 800 watts for a 4 x 4 area is overkill?? I’m just going off the math I found online and what I learned to be Optimum lighting. As far as led Watts from the wall, what would you suggest to get me at least one pound per plant?

I will add that each plant will be taking up a four-by-four space due to scrog and LST like a mf… their in 15 gal pots and like I said, 4 x 4 canopy from one plant is what I’m shooting for so is 800w really Overkill?

With some training you can easily fill a 4 by 4 space with one big plant. With the new HLG LED lights 35 watts is efficient to turn out quality buds. I can easily turn out 19 to 20 Oz with two plants two lights 4x4 space. One plant spread out you should get a pound. Good luck with your new Venture ,just my thoughts.

Yeah I peeped the hlg lights bro, damn expensive LMAO. I was hoping I wouldn’t have to drop that much coin on a light. Was looking at a bestva 3000w LED that’s actually 615w from the wall. How do you think I’d Fair running something like this? Is a pound attainable?

50w per sqft is the standard for HID lighting. Quality LED’s like HLG and it’s closer to 30w per sqft. The bestva LEDs are on the lower end of quality and you’d probably be better off with the 1000w hps.

I see what you’re saying man. So to get what I’m looking to pull per plant, I’m going to be sitting around $1K or better for lights it looks like…:scream::scream::scream: before I go jump off this Cliff, any budget-friendly LEDs that could get the job done?? Need to cover an area of 4 by 4. Thanks for the feedback bro

To truly replace a 1000w HID you’ll need around 600-650 true watts from quality LED’s. It is a higher up front cost but it does pay for itself with electricity saving. Not just from the light but from saving electricity by not having to cool as much since they run much cooler than their HID counterparts. HLG is probably the best bang for the buck as far as quality LED’s go. There is a promo code “dude” for HLG that will save $110 off the HLG 650r

Yeah you hit the nail on the head with that brother. I know LEDs are way more efficient, just didn’t want to swallow that 1K bill lol. I appreciate the lookout on the promo code too, you’re the man!:muscle:

Yeah if you calculate the 1000w hps running 12 hours a day for flower (@ $0.13 per kWh) for a year you’re looking at $569. For the 650r you’re looking at $370. For 18hrs a day for veg you’re looking at $854 per year for the HID and $555 a year for the LED.

Can’t argue with those numbers either. This is something I’m going to do because HPS / hid is not good for my area, way too hot during summer. I’m on the website right now:grin::grin::scream::scream::scream::man_shrugging:

You will get your money back first grow.

#1 you can pull a lb off a plant with a 3 x 3 grow space

#2 I’m running 3 240 watt Kingbrites in a 4 x 4 for 740 watts or 45 watts per sq ft. They have the same components as hlg, though they do not promise top bin. The plants look beautiful after 5-6 weeks of 12 and 12. This is my first grow with this configuration. Eventually it will just be 2 plants in a scrog in there, I’m currently evaluating strains to settle on one.

All in I bought lights for 2 tents to harvest 1 tent per month with 2 plants in it. My total for the 6 240 watt lights was around $1,100 shipped.

Will 2- HLG 100 Rspec lights be enough for 2-auto’s in a 3x3? If your formula is accurate, 9 square feet in a 3x3 at 30/sq ft is 180 watts. Those two together are 200 watts. Is this correct?

I would go with an HLG 320 for a 3x3 space. It’s 3 HLG 135 Rspec panels, which is great for a 3x3.

I run 3 HLG 135 Rspecs for each plant and it works out great.
