ZSkittles woes.. what gives?

So here i am cold, wet, and beaten up over the Zskittlez. Ive been successful with Gelato, Banana Kush, G13, Sunset Sherbert. Durban Poison, Granddaddy Purp, Critical Mass, and Northern Lights… but this FREAKING ZSkittlez is racking my brain. A friend of mine has had 1 out of 5 get out of seedling stage. Ive went through 5 to get 2 to break soil. 1 is stuck in sucker leaf stage and the other just looks funky. I put the sucker in the window to get some actual sunlight to see if that boosts anything. Im using Coast of Maine seedling starter which ive used religiously since day 1. Nothing has changed in the way i germ or care for seedlings, if anything, its drastically improved. Ive got an HLG300L B SPEC and vivosun vs2000 in the veg room. Im averaging about 250 275 PPFD at the tops of the plants. In my germ cabinet im averaging 80°F and 70-80rh.

When my plants start lacking behind and not performing, I start torturing them! :smiling_imp: fimming, topping, pulling leaves. And usually it stimulates growth believe it or not! I look at like this: if there going to underperform, and I’m not going to benefit from a big yield. I might as well take this opportunity to learn something else!

Ah, these girls arent but a few weeks old. They are actually ahead of schedule as far as growing. All of em are fine except the Z. The reason i offset them ( i moved them from 1 gal to 5 gal pots this morning ( waiting on soil ) is for manifolding. I might just have to try another seed banks Z to see if theres a genetic thing going on. This is the second batch of Z ive tried

Here is some Barney’s Farm Watermelon Skittlez Auto that popped ground 7 days ago. I have grown Skittlez photos, Fast strain and now autos. I find it to be a tad finicky, the fast strain hermed on me twice and she doesn’t like to be over watered at all. She’s a bit of a slow grower at first then takes off.

Alright folks, i need to pick your brains. Im learning that zskittlez prefers a more drier soil than any other strain ive grown. I started out overwatering i think amd thats why i got the weird growth at first. Shes coming around and this is an updated 30 day update. Those who have grown Zskittlez photo. Do you have any advice for temp, rh, and soil moisture?

I would just keep it simple man :upside_down_face:, i had some issues with my GG4 but that was due to my inexperience and over watering.

Water every 3-5 days (or when pot is light, this is what you’re really going for…wet/dry cycles), temp 75-78 @ 60% humidity. That seems ti be working for me!

Im gonna seperate her from the others tomorrow and drop the rh and temps in her personal room and see how she reacts… the gdp and dp i have going along with the z are growing like raging monsters…

Hopefully she’s just saving her energy for flower :+1:

I have not been growing long. But I have never heard of strain that liked longer dry periods than others. Not saying it’s not true I’m just saying that wet and dry cycles for the most part are the same for every plant. Some drinking faster and needing more nutes why others may drink less and need less. But as far as watering on a whole. Just wait until the pot is extra light. If your not sure on how much the pot weighs now empty. Because as the root ball gets bigger so does the dry weight of the pot. Then just wait until she droops just a little bit then make sure the top 2-3 inches of soil is dry and lift it. you’ll know the “dry weight” of the pot now and can add water.
