Hey looking good! I have my intake fan at bucket level and room air is cooler down low, hot air rises… Also consider that airstones adding cool air helps too. I figure it helps buckets temps to some degree. I just checked 76.4°F in two buckets. I think you’ll be fine in mid upper 70’s I’ve grown at these temps successfully. 
Let’er grow! But keep an eye on room temp and inside tent temp and humidity. I think you’ll be fine. Now no one has mentioned your “burple included with tent light” you’re using. You’ll wanna

I think we lost part of your reply there, but I was wondering about that. I’ve seen not-so-great opinions of the type of light I have on this forum. Thinking it’d be best to upgrade from the start?

Oh yeah! From as soon as you can get an intake fan, switch to a quality light. HLG lighting is super popular here. I am done with upgrades on lighting. Personally I settled with a Mars Hydro TS2000 pulls just over 300 actual watts full spectrum plus red and blue but looks white as you’ve no doubt seen in my journal. I’d say not knowing your budget, about 300 bucks should get you good quality lighting.

I’m thinking I’m going to grab this 4 inch fan to roughly match the capacity of the other one that came with the tent.
In terms of lights, it really seems like the best quality and fit for my tent (and possibly larger if I choose to scale up) would be this TSW2000 from Mars Hydro, similar to yours but a square.
Thoughts, @neofirebird?

Yes that’s the light I have, I’m quite happy with mine. That fan should do okay. I have this one, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M7S46YZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_wjLwFbJJ4P06J it doesn’t push enough air - I end up with filter fan dialed down halfway. I even was considering a second but now I’m thinking 8" since my filter output fan is powerful. Consider the 6" fan version of the one you picked out and grab that Mars Hydro 2000 you’ll love it.

- Last night, I set up the light timer now that I’ve got some visible growth. Starting with an 18/6 light/darkness cycle. Here’s what the plants are looking like after last night. As you can see, everything is taking off except for one of the Blue Dream plants. Take a look:

As I mentioned above, I have an additional fan and a replacement light arriving this weekend. With the combination of (1) adding a new fan, (2) moving to 18/6 lights rather than 24 hours, and (3) moving to the new Mars Hydro light, I’m thinking I should be able to keep the temperatures much more reasonable. (I’m pretty sure this blurple throws off a decent amount of heat, despite being LED.)

My plan is to let them grow in the covered tray until they start to get near the lid, then look to transplant them. As a reminder, one plant will go to a 5gal DWC set up, and the remaining plants will go into 5gal or 1gal cloth pots with either soil/perlite or coco/perlite. I can legally grow up to 6 plants, but I don’t think my tent size can support that. Also, it’s worth noting again that only the Blue Dream seeds are feminized. We’re rolling the dice on the other 4.

I was in tending to the girls here’s how my intake looks… Notice how it blows at the buckets at an angle? I put cheesecloth over the intake to filter air going in
PS you’re getting it dialed in step by step. Looks good. FWIW I after around a year ditched measuring spoons for these to mix my nutes etc. Amazon.com

It’s funny you mention the cheesecloth because I was just eyeing up my intake duct and thinking that it’s probably a little risky to be pulling directly from the outside without any sort of real filter, since I could be sucking up bugs and whatnot. I think I’ll follow your lead there.
Also, originally I was considering placing the intake fan outside the tent like I have with my exhaust, but I like the idea of using that as an additional method of getting air moving inside the tent along with my oscillating fans.
I thiiink I’m about where I want to be with gear, with the exception of a good humidifier. I need to do some research there.

My timer bluetooth connects and displays current and watts actually shows a bit higher than light spec’d at? IDK solid wattage and high current
I also found a bluetooth temp humidity monitor for 12 bucks.

That’s convenient! I’ve just been using a cheap Wyze cam to look at the thermometer in my tent. haha
Here’s an update from the tent:
- With all the ash and smoke in the skies, the temperature has been noticeably cooler outside–especially given the insane heat waves we’ve seen in recent weeks. Today at almost 10AM, it’s still only 60F outside. This translates to 77F in my tent, but I’ll have a new intake fan either tonight or tomorrow and cooler lights Saturday or Sunday.
- All 6 plants are now showing some green. The last Blue Dream came through last night. Recalling back, I think I may have dropped that seed slightly deeper into the peat starter, and I believe that seed had less of a taproot than the other Blue Dream. Here are some pictures:

- Excited to see the second Blue Dream coming through, as those are my only feminized seeds.
- Right now I’m running the blurple 12inchs from the plants, but will have a more powerful light showing up this weekend, as mentioned above. Any advice on getting the light height right? (lol)
- Even on a cool day, I’m still seeing high 70s in the tent. @neofirebird – Looking at your temps, it seems like you may hover around higher 70s as well. Any opinions on ideal temps through the different stages of the plant’s lifecycle?

Also, I picked up this humidifier which is arriving this weekend. With that, the new fan, and the new light, I should be all set on equipment through the rest of this grow. (Hopefully)
This one lets me set a relative humidity percentage and it will try to keep the environment at that level.

Humidifier looks good remember distilled water only for that. As for your other question about temps. Cannabis is happy growing in high 70’s. temps. Keeping them domed like you did is good. As for the hydro gal in Rockwool cube did I miss that pic? I personally add almost 2 inches of hydroton stand the cube up then fill around it to cover the cube. Let her stretch up gives her good room to develop roots, I’ve put cubes lower in past with less than ideal results. Then I add 3.5 gallons of water so it wets the hydroton. Normally I do three gallons, I use I higher level while roots are making their way down. Remember at this point don’t add nutes to water just pH it to 6.1 ish. Leave hydroguard out too until roots are growing. Check the pH as it makes drift on you. I check mine two or three times a day. Gotta stay ontop of hydro more than soil’s pH.

Oh forgot to address the temps over lifestages… Honestly you’ll get your temps with that dual fan intake exhaust anywhere in the mid to upper 70’s is where they thrive. Humidity since you’re gonna be able to control that - you’ll wanna target fifty or sixty % humidity up to 70ish % in flowering. Highest humidity at the end, but you don’t want it too dry at the start either. Hope this info helps… Any questions lmk. PS chart with light shows light recommend heights for veg through flower.

Good call. If I’m understanding your tubing right, you don’t use an RDWC, correct?
I was wondering how you go about changing the water after the plant gets fairly large. I figured I could use the water level checker tube to drain out almost all of the water without having to move it around all that much. Do you use a pump to drain the reservoir weekly?

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
Here’s an update:
- Both the humidifier and the Mars Hydro TSW2000 showed up today, so I installed both. Temperatures are running very hot again today, but the relative humidity is a bit higher than it has been. As of now, the new equipment has only been installed for a few hours, so I’m going to keep monitoring. The Twitch stream is looking a little less colorful now that I moved to the new light! lol It’s currently about 24" above the plants.
- I started noticing some discoloration on the starter leaves, but the new pointy leaves are looking pretty good. Here’s some pictures:

- Any concerns regarding the discoloration on the starter leaves? Or should I only be concerned when the actual leaves start looking sick?
- Also, the roots are starting to come through prominently on a few on the plants. I think I’m going to look to transplant these into pots and the DWC this weekend. Any thoughts on if that’s too early?

Time for an update:
- It’s been about a week since I moved the seeds from wet paper towel to the peat starters. (9 days from start of germination)
- 5 of 6 plants seem to be surviving nicely. One of the Blue Dreams that was missing a cotyledon hasn’t grown any additional leaves yet. I do not have high hopes that it will pull through, but that’s fine–I’m not going to have the space for all 6 plants. Next time, I’ll be more careful with the depth at which I place germinated seeds into the starters.
- Since replacing the light and humidifier, the temps and humidity has been slightly better.
- The Mojave Green is starting to really develop it’s second set of leaves, and the roots are going wild on a lot of the plants.
When is the right time to get these placed into pots? I’m concerned the roots will be damaged by light exposure now that they’re poking through the bottoms of the starters.

I went ahead and transplanted all of the plants. Not expecting the Blue Dream runt to make it at this point, but I put it into a pot just in case and covered it up in a jar to keep the humidity in.
I moved the other Blue Dream to the DWC and have the water level just below the basket with lots of air coming through the stones.
Here’s hoping I didn’t kill these plants!
