White Widow indoor grow

Not been very happy with the 20 White Widow seeds I purchased. Thus far, only half have made it above ground and the ones that have, they have been tall and thin. The one in the picture just fell over today so I staked it. Only about 16 inches tall. The previous ones were all about the same requiring staking and at flowering there were only 8-10 small usable blossoms and the leaves lost color and fell off before flowering was complete. I used Fox Farm soil and natural light adding only a small amount of nutrients and maintaining a just moist soil. Other seeds, with the same conditions produced much, much more in terms of leaves, flowers and strength in the stalk. These seeds have been more or less a bust and I cannot recommend them for anything other than frustration,

Window light wont work unless you have a deep bay window with direct light all day long. Morning to sunset.

Yup. what @Spiney_norman said :point_up_2:. If u r inside , you definitely need a decent light. Check ph and runoff numbers. Tall and thin is because she is searching for light. How did u germinate the seeds?

Agree with @Spiney_norman never going to get a good plant growing in a window better off putting them outside

It seems you are trying to sprout seeds and grow them in a window. I salute the success you have had with that. Looks like you got some plants through flower. But ALL of your plants show thin weak stalks. If you want seeds to live and thrive you are going to have to invest some time in understanding light.

Sorry to hear that @TimK, I started 6 white widow autos and 4 are above ground in 3 gal pots with an inexpensive Amazon light iN a tent. There’s a lot of support around here, I’m on my first grow and so far so good. Read up and reach out to a few folks who you can relate to and they’ll help for sure. Good luck!

One of the reasons for tall plants is not enough light when they were seedlings

Better to learn now and get some good decent lighting before attempting the other seeds. Here are a couple of my tent grown WW autos.

Live and learn like many of us did…the hard way

tried the first batch with closed space and grow lights, and all the other stuff, they grew the same as these, tall and thin. I grew weed for years in the late 70’s. Seeds from Thailand, Viet Nam, Maui, Kona, Lihue and Mexico, they all grew by just throwing them in the ground and they thrived. These NEW breed of seeds are so temperamental and fragile. Better quality outcome, but lots of work. Seems like they have over domesticated a once hearty weed.

Yah thats for sure and we are all still learning everytime

I see what you are saying about overall vigor, but a wild Thai Sativa would want to grow 15 feet tall and not finish flower until the winter solstice at Christmas. Trying to stretch above your fence and house the whole time. The hybrids help get that same exact yield weight off a 6 foot plant which inherited the gene to flower out closer to October. Sometimes dialing down that vigor is not a bad thing. Especially if we can up the flavor (terp%) and cannabinoids at the same time.

I bet you will figure it out in just a couple of runs; how to make the hybrids work for you. May I ask, why don’t you put it outside? Or back in the grow space? Many here would be honored to help you dial that space in if you shared the details? Honestly, I don’t feel I know a strain until my 3-4 date. By then the ounces are closer to pounds.

I have to humbly agree with the consensus on the windows for flower. Windows are great for veg; done lots of fall plant sexing that way w out lights. But if i leave a bud that way I just end up with a little chicken wing size bud.

Check the bud of the month thread for modivation and confirmation. No bud porn shots get up there without the confirmed order number shown.
It doesn’t get more legit. :point_left:

You should try seeds from a different seed bank i can recommend sticky seeds uk , herbies seeds, attitude seeds uk ,i think u will be very happy with sticky seeds uk they have dark wizard genetics and thats the genetics i normally use and there been great i will show you a plant from dark wizard genetics

@Aussie_autos,
I have also ordered from all those sites. Good seeds. Homegrown and seedsherenow too. Attitude has a list that takes days to get thru.

I still miss the old single seed shop herbies ran for years. It was a good way to try 1 of something.

I use herbies seeds and sticky seeds uk all the time

I ordered some seeds from a place in the UK but they never arrived. I went back and forth with them for a few e mails, but all I got was nothing for about $100. Thanks for all the support. I do have an indoors grow space with several varieties of lighting. I have to work with the distance of the plant to the source I think and try a bit more early pruning. It is heartening to see so many with great looking plants.
Thanks again.

I would say herbies, attitude and seedsherenow all act more like banks. They just store a bunch of original breeder packs. They leave it how the breeder packed it. So you have to not just know your strains; you have to know the breeder reps or style (hazeman, skunkman, or topdog w/ chem phenos etc.) or autos.

If all you know is strains, or are just new to all of this, I would say ILGM and homegrown are both more your style. They list by plant profile only and take all the breeder politics out of it.

They both have their distinct pros and cons. I have never been ripped off on seeds. Worst problem I have had was wrong seed subs. Those have always been resolved by kindness and sugar. If you start spraying vinegar and flamethrowers to customer support. You gonna hear back crickets…

@TimK sorry those Uk Seeds didn’t work out. No one wants to feel ripped. That’s got to make you wary for sure. It’s human nature.
