White looking dust on soil

I’m pretty sure I was over watering my plants now there’s white looking dust on the soil. Is there any way to fix this?

We need some pictures and a bit more info.

1st. I agree; We need a picture. 2nd:

I am sorry. This post does not make sense. Here is a link to a "Support ticket.

Fill it out, and we can give you an informed decision

Strain; Type, Bag seed, or NA
I don’t know the strain. I got the plants from a friend that was neglecting them. They got really cold and weren’t looking too good so he let me take them. I’ve never grown before and I was definitely overwatering them.

Soil in pots, Hydroponic, or Coco?
Miracle grow soil in a few different size pots

System type?n/a

PH of runoff or solution in reservoir?i don’t have any supply’s

What is strength of nutrient mix? EC, or TDS ? ?n/a
I don’t have any tools for measuring anything

Indoor or Outdoor
indoor

Light system, size?
the light is a hps. don’t know what watt but the ballast is a dimmable 400 watt. They are both just extras the prior owner of the plant had around his house
Temps; Day, Night
?/na/no tools
Humidity; Day, Night

Ventilation system; Yes, No, Size
Two fans in a closet

AC, Humidifier, De-humidifier,

Co2; Yes, No

First ever grow don’t know much about anything cause it was very spur of the moment. they were clones. I was overwatering them and they got fungus gnats. Then the soil started looking like it had a little bit of powder sprinkled on it. Now the leave are yellowing. One plant from the edges. One from the tips one with yellow new growth one with almost all the leaves gradually turning yellow some have edges curling up some have tips curling up some are droopy. I seriously don’t know which guide to follow or if I should just get some seeds from you guys and start over. But I hate to see them just die

How do I post pictures

Ok @latewood and @tlkbear I’ve been studying for days and I think I’ve finally figured it out. I think some of the yellowing was from nute burn. I watered it with nutes once before the I found out that the soil that it’s potted in is a slow nute release. The leaves with the edges curling up and tips starting to curl I believe is from the grow room getting too hot. Also I think one plant’s got a couple of leaves starting to bleach from being to close to the light. Also the ph in the water was high. Plus I think the fungus gnats caused some sort of fungi to really start to mess things up 2 of the plant have died already. Man I wish I would’ve had some time to do some research before I got these plants instead of having them just dropped in my lap. Lol at least I’m learning to solve lots of different problems. Anyway so first of all I quit overwatering the plants. I watered with diluted hydrogen peroxide for the larvae and fungus. I also put down a layer of diatomaceous earth over the soil. I went and bout a ph testing kit and some ph up and ph down and neutralized the ph in the water. I quit using the nutes. Raised the light a little. I’ve been keeping an eye on the temperature and humidity. After doing all of those things the 4 remaining plants have definitely started to perk back up and are looking a lot better. One has just ridiculously sprouted and the other three are starting to liven up a bit after pruning some dead leaves off. Starting to see some new growth on them. I can’t thank all you guys here at ilovegrowingmarijuana.com enough for helping me to save those plants. One more question. The plant the recovered the quickest and had the amazing sprout has some weird looking leaves on it. I’ll post some pictures of the powdery substance on the soil and how the plants looked before all the changes. Then I’ll post some current ones. I’ll also post a pic of the wired leaves. If anyone knows why the top half of the plants leaves are thin and sharp with 5 extensions to each leaf and the bottom half of the plant has leaves with fat rounded leaves with only three extensions I’d really like to know. I really thought that was wired. Thanks again guys.

The number of leaves, this is how all cannabis plants pretty much progress, less leaves in the beginning and more leaves as the plant gets bigger. That is just how it is.

The white crust could be just from nutrient salts, or it could be a powdery mold or fungus, I can’t see cearly enough in the picture to be for sure, but it mostly looks like a normal salt crusting, maybe. Maybe even kind of like lime scale in your bathroom, especially if you have been using hard water.

Hope this helps,

MacG

Ok here’s the current ones. I know they don’t look all that great but if you saw them when they were almost dead they look way better.

The last three photos are of the plant and leaves in question. Anyone who knows why there is such a big difference between the leaves on top of the plant and the ones on bottom please let me know

The number of leaves is just like I said above. but different damage to leaves at the top or the bottom is due to nutrient mobility and other factors.

O sorry @MacGyverStoner I didn’t see the first post. That’s probably it. I bet it’s because of my hard water. HAHA!!! I feel dumb. Thanks again @MacGyverStoner @latewood and @tlkbear and anyone else who helped me out. You guys at ilovegrowingmarijuana.com are !@#$in awesome. I don’t know what I’d do without you. Have a bunch of dead plants I guess lol.
