Food grade diatomaceous earth is a really great non-toxic pesticide for soft bodied critters, especially when used as described ā sprinkled on the soil and watered in, for critters that lay their eggs in the soil, and if used routinely it is very effective against fungus gnats.
Something to note, often excessive fungus gnats is a sign the soil is staying too wet. The larva really need a lot of moisture to really survive in the soil, and they need waterlogged decaying roots to feed off of.
Have we already mentioned the most effective way to water and feed your plants in containers, is to water them to saturation, get a feel for the very heavy totally saturated soil, and then not water again until the soil weight feels nearly totally dried out, very light, but before the plants start to droop because of lack of water? This flood to dry method helps keep fungus gnats at bay as well, and it also helps keep the root zone happy and healthy by providing lots of oxygen to the roots, the roots unlike the leaves, need oxygen, not CO2. This will also keep bad fungi that give the fungus gnats food at bay.
Even spider mites lay their eggs in the soil, so using food grade DE regularly can help prevent a spider mite infestation, assuming they donāt have any other place to lay eggs and still reach the canopy of the marijuana.

Thanks Mac I think I got side tracked and never explained to @Medicalgrower how or why I suggested DE may also have been in rush and simply blurted answer as a take it or leave it lol I get moody Medicalgrower so will at times leave people to research the suggestion. In reality I know people will take or leave advice so I donāt always follow up sorry if I left you hanging another factor is though many of us see or glance a topic if we fill it is well handled and you are in capable hands (not being lead astray) we move on to where we can best be helpful
