I was 92 I think. Full class A licence holder. We had to do the CW as well up to 12 wpm. Jeez that wasn’t yesterday
I had to do 13WPM to earn my GENERAL.I always preferred the DIGITAL modes myself…:>)
I had a play with PSK when it first came out then had a go with SSTV. Not really active these days at all
Thought I’d share.
I was in Ecuador in the late 80’s US Army. We started getting radio bounce on VHF for a taxi in New York. While it lasted, we had him driving, not there, the next block. In front of the hotel!! Not that one the one on the next street.
Ok that’s pretty funny
At the time it was. Middle of the jungle, well flying over it, directing a taxi
I played with PSK quite a bit…regular ‘packet’ also…I ‘worked’ MIR,ISS and several Space Shuttle missions…An international research station in Antarctica…a tug boat in the Black Sea…and I have QSL cards to prove it!!!..:>)
Back in the late 80s,when the solar cycle 22 was at its peak,I actually ‘worked’ a CBer who was stuck off road in Louisiana…‘barefoot’ rig…from 5 states away…he gave me a phone # to call his dad…I did …I dont think he believed I wasn’t local…his dad believed it when I called him long distance…:>)
That is proper nice set of contacts to have in the logbook. I have never tried any of the digital stuff at all
I recently started a new hobby with my 13 years old son
For his birthday I got him a lock picking set that comes with an acrylic padlock so you can see what you are doing on the inside
That’s so cool @Mr_Wormwood!
Very cool! Great idea for a gift and I want one
Thanks
I found it at Newegg dotcom
Have s look at “Bosnian Bill” and the “lock pick lawyer” on YouTube. They’re brilliant
