I love how many hams are here!
I missed deer season entirely this year. Did shoot a cow elk and a LOT of dove and quail. Next year we have a hunt in South Dakota on a HUGE tract of private farmland.
I only shoot paper and steel, and I’m loading up for the 2020 PRS season and more 1 mile hits.
One of my favorite things is taking someone out who has never shot over 100 yards and putting them on target for 1,100 yard hits.
@bsd I had noticed myself the number of hams on here
…I cant believe I failed to include HAM radio…licensed since ‘91’…inactive for a few years though…:>)
I hit my neighbors mutt in the head,with a quarter-sized-rock,from about 75 ft,yesterday…I admit it was a lucky ‘shot’…
I have to admit, I’m not super active much. I do listen quite a bit (mostly shortwave). I’ll attempt a contact with the ISS occasionally in my backyard with my Arrow antenna and my HT. Managed to make 2 contacts with them over the years, was pretty cool.
I have QSLs from ISS,Space Shuttle and MIR…all were simple packet/PSK 33 (?) contacts…I always enjoyed the digital modes…:>)
Know what you mean about the bow. I try not to hunt with rifle unless I get skunked in bow season. I have a system for calling in deer and it works a LOT of the time. Even made me skeptic son a believer over the last two hunts. We only hunted Three times in the last three years. Always manage to get at least one each. I went bow and rifle in '17. Got to get out with my twin sons and hunt. It was the first time we ever got to hunt together. Always too busy doing my work to keep them in eating food. Was not easy in high school, both did Track, Cross Country and even football in the freshman year and ate everything in the house twice a day for four years !
I’m almost ashamed to admit it, but I played a lot of Battlefield 4 when I was on disability a few years ago. The character I played was #1 in my state and in the top 10 ten the country for quite a while. I haven’t played that character for at least a year, but I just checked my stats and I’m still ranked as the #6 main battle tanker in my state.
Sounds like a blast ! Have fun and good luck !
Thanks, we were just talking about this. The property is located on the Standing Rock Indian Rez and is 39,000 acres of deeded farm and pasture. The deer season on the rez starts a week before it does on his land so all of the deer end up there. Plus it’s deep into pheasant season and those damned sunflowers will have been harvested by then lol.
Something like 4 deer per year come off of that property.
Damn, that sounds like a great time.
I am hoping to get another shot at an Elk in Montana. A friend from the Navy has a really nice spread and lots of elk and deer. I am hoping I get a chance to go this year. Going to get my knee replaced soon and am going to work hard to get it in shape before tOctober, Hoping I can be mobile by then IF I get the chance.
Can’t wait for my GDP to finish. Smells awesome to me. The buds are starting to fill out farther down the stems. I am hoping I can keep it going for another 3-4 weeks ! Should have some decent cola’s by then. Haven’t really looked at size too much but seem to be picking up mass daily. Take care brother.
@Zeke7777 forgot to follow this post, hence the lack of response. I was licensed in 92 but have been very inactive for a long time now due to life getting in the way. I worked Spokane then Dunedin in NZ on a G5RV that was only really fit for hanging washing on
OH yeah ! ! That is nice to be able to do that. Can’t hunt and shoot much anymore with my medical issues but do spend a lot of time on the bow. I love to see 'em drop in their tracks at 35-50 yards and die quickly. That one I got this year was a double lung and major vessels shot at 27 paces. I missed the heart but cut off the vessels to it! I like to practice in the yard one nice days.
I Love to watch the distance shooting. A friend that I ride Harleys with goes all over to compete. It is expensive too. The match guns are not cheap.
Take Care and be safe. Doc (Jerry)
Trail running. This year was to be my first 50 miler for competition but the virus messed all the races up. Which is fine, it takes a load of pressure off of me and now I just enjoy the distance, the heat, and the headspace it gives me. Now my runs are relatively short at 10 miles or so.
Gym rat of sorts. Hubby is a dungeon master and I need to stay fit to handle whatever antics or rope work he wants to put me in. If you can call BDSM a hobby but I am pretty good at making a floggers and other implements of fun and thrills. Elk skin was latest one I made. Heavy mama jamma too! Like a Swedish massage. Gives him a workout wielding it.
I think that trumps every other hobby posted so far @KikiGee
Nice bikes, ground up rebuilds ?
